Mary Kay 2020 Holiday Collection and Gift Guide

Thanksgiving is over and the first snowfall has covered the ground in a thin layer of ice. You know what that means...it’s officially time to prepare for Christmas! 2020 has been a difficult year so I’m starting the festivities early to help lighten the mood. I’ve already decorated the house and watched a few holiday movies.

If you need great gift ideas, Mary Kay has a collection of beautifully packaged presents for everyone on your list.
One of my favorites is the Limited-Edition Iconic Lip Vault ($60) which includes 3 classic lipsticks in wearable everyday shades – Raspberry Ice, Mauve Moment and Crushed Berry. The lipsticks come in a cute little canister and the semi-matte formula provides beautiful color, shine and ample hydration. This trendy gift is perfect for friends, co-workers and the lovely ladies in your family.
To keep everyone on your list soft, supple and moisturized all winter, Mary Kay has released Limited-Edition Hand Cream and Lip Balm Sets ($21). They come boxed and ready to go so you can slip then into stockings or tuck them under the tree. I love the cute polka dot design and they come in 3 refreshing scents – Berry Parfait, Coconut Mousse and Citrus Sorbet.
The Mad About Masking Gift Set ($30) is making another appearance this year because we all need a little pampering. It comes with 4 masks:
*Miss Pore-Fect – oil absorbing, mattifying clay that rids the skin of impurities.
*Energy Queen – mud mask infused with caffeine, green tea, rosehip and sweet almond oil.
*Lady Serenity – a cool, soothing cream that melts stress away.
*Dewy Gal – hydrating gel mask that leaves skin glowing.

I slipped this set in my sister’s stocking last year and she loved it!
The Men’s Hair & Body Gift Set ($29) smells fantastic! The body washes come in a mesh bag and there are two irresistible scents – High Intensity Ocean (icy, fresh and invigorating) and True Original (clean, bold and classic).
The Mary Kay Satin Hands Collection is a staple in my bathroom and it makes a great hostess gift for any household or couple. To create the perfect gift basket I suggest the Shea Hand Sanitzer ($11) with germ killing power and a quadruple blend of moisture, Shea Hand Soap ($12), Satin Smoothie Refining Hand Scrub and the Protecting Softener for rough, peeling, calloused hands. These products are gentle and fragrance-free.
The Satin Body Products are great for stockings, gift bags and care packages. A few of my favorites are the Revitalizing Scrub (for smooth, silky skin), Indulgent Shea Body Wash and the Silkening Shea Lotion to hydrate and soften.
Something you should add to your own wish-list is the NEW Micellar Water ($20). It is great for removing makeup residue and pore clogging impurities. Use it with the Limited-Edition Reusable Cleansing Pads ($18) that come with a handy laundry bag for easy washing.
Mary Kay also offers a few mini giftables like this cute Essential Brush Set ($18) and Blending Sponge Set ($16) that slip into any purse or gym bag for touch-ups and quick application on-the-go.
These products and more can be purchased online at marykay.ca and through independent consultants.

Urban Decay Stoned Vibes Eye Shadow Palette | Review and Swatches

Just in time for the holiday season Urban Decay has released a glamorous new palette inspired by vibrant, glittering gemstones.
The packaging has a multi-colored jewel motif and inside there are 4 mattes and 8 mood-shifting, marbleized, prismatic shimmers infused with genuine tourmaline to block bad energy and promote good vibes.
These vegan shadows have a bold, knock-out chrome finish that is festive and fun. The speckled metallic flecks embedded within the pigments give each shade a unique multidimensional effect.

Overall the color payoff is prominent and the texture is smooth, dense and velvety. The shades with the best saturation are: Jade, Opal Aura, Tiger’s Eye, Vibes, Ojo and Bloodstone. The only color that doesn’t make the cut is Raw Energy. It looks like a deep, radiant purple but shows up as a sheer lavender-grey.
When I first opened this palette I knew there would be a bit of fallout. Some shades are a little messier than others but it shouldn’t be a problem if you use a good primer (glitter or cream) and apply it immediately before the shadow (while the base is still tacky). If you utilize this method, the shimmer should stay in place with minimal lid to crease transfer.

The cruelty-free double-ended brush is good quality. Spritz the flat end with UD All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray and swipe on in a firm, fluid motion. The fluffy end blends crease colors seamlessly.
If you like beautiful, brilliant, shadows that make your eyes pop, this palette is a great addition to your collection.
Urban Decay is available online at urbandecay.ca, free-standing stores, Sephora and Ulta Beauty.
