If you go gaga for goat cheese or crazy for cheddar the delectable
new menu at Milestones will tantalize your taste buds. Putting cheese on
something automatically makes it better (ask anyone) and with 5 new dishes to
choose from you will definitely satisfy your craving for ooey- gooey comfort
food.
Last night I was invited to a wine and cheese sampling to
try the scrumptious new menu and it was love at first bite! From appetizers,
main courses and dessert, there is something for everyone.
5 - Cheese Bombs
Colby Jack, Jalapeno
Monterey Jack, Smoked Havarti, Asiago and Goat Cheese served with tomato chorizo sausage ragu dipping sauce OR marinara sauce.
Wine pairing – Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc (passion fruit
and citrus notes)
Bomb is the perfect word to describe these crispy bites
because the warm, oozing cheese medley explodes in your mouth with a rich smoked flavor.
Beer & Cheddar Soup
Made with eighteen month aged Dutch Cheddar Cheese and Mill
St. Organic Beer, topped with Smoked Gouda and bacon grilled cheese croutons.
Wine pairing – Robert Mondavi Private Selection Chardonnay (slightly
sweet with hints of pear, apple and oak).
On cold fall nights, this soup will warm you up and put a smile
on your face with its rich, creamy base and savory paprika. Be warned - the mouthwatering aroma will induce cravings and keep you going back for more.
Prosciutto Chicken Cordon Bleu
Smoked Prosciutto, Provolone Cheese and a Charred Serrano Mustard Cream on crispy Panko and Asiago Fried Chicken Breast. Served with
creamy Beemster and Champagne Mac n’ Cheese.
Wine pairing – Raven’s Wood Vinters Blend Zinfandel
Although I did not have the prosciutto, this dish is
hearty, rich and filling. The crunchy chicken breast compliments the creamy
pasta and fresh green beans quite well. The
only thing I would add is more sauce!
Black n’ Blue Steak
Bavette Steak topped with blue cheese butter and bourbon pepper. Served with a side of seasonal vegetables and creamy Beemster Mac n’ Cheese.
Wine pairing – Robert Mondavi Private Selection Cabernet
Sauvignon
Corkscrew Truffle Pasta (not on the cheese menu)
Pasta tossed with
truffle oil, garlic and mushrooms. Topped with fresh arugula.
Although my mom informed me that the steak is amazing (she
is definitely going back for more), I am not a fan of red meat so I had the veggie option
instead. The truffle oil gave the dish an earthy component that compliments the spicy greens.
I did not try the dessert but you can finish your cheesy meal with the Apple Cheddar Fritter topped with salted rum caramel,
French vanilla ice cream, spice pecans and icing sugar.
One of my favorite drinks at Milestones is the Peach Bellini (seriously, it's the best!). No matter what you order, a Bellini always makes the meal better!
