Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Review

The Maybelline Color Tattoos are favorites among many makeup lovers and the original cream formulas have been making eyes standout with stunning color for quite some time. The Tattoos have recently welcomed some wonderful new additions into the family including the Color Tattoo Leathers and the Pure Pigments. The first time I saw these vivid shades I just knew I had to have them and I've been busy creating bold looks ever since!

The pigments are available in 12 gorgeous shades and the saturation is intense! You can achieve soft looks by applying them lightly but I prefer to use them to their full potential for a blast of incredible color!

Although the pigments are described as “pure” that does not mean they are solid, in fact many of the shades I have contain shimmer in varying degrees but the actual color is quite matte.

My favorite shade is Brash Blue because it is the most vibrant of the bunch and even without a primer these shadows are ultra saturated. They are formulated to last up to 24 hours and although I haven’t tested them for that long they do hold up all day without creasing, fading or smudging. They are also easy to blend and when applied wet they look stunning along the lower lash line for a bright pop of colored liner!

You can purchase the Pure Pigments at most drug stores including Walmart and Target.

If you are interested in the Color Tattoo Leathers I have the shadow in Vintage Plum. These are quite the opposite of the vibrant pigments above, they are all neutral hues that resembled shades of leather. The texture is a smooth, thick cream and Plum appears rather grey. Although I think the Leather shadows are unique I prefer the consistency of the pigments, if you like cream shadow however then these are suitable for fall.

  1. I sort of forgot about the pure pigments! I got one a year ago, but I haven't used it in forever. I'll have to pull it out and do a look with it soon!
