Your makeup is only as good as the tools you use which is why Real Techniques offers quality brushes at affordable prices. For gift giving season I decided to put together a package that any beauty junkie would enjoy including the new limited edition Berlin Collection plus the brush cleaning palette and cleansing gel for care and maintenance.
Recently the brand held a contest where fans voted between a few trendy new handle designs and the winner was this edgy black and white pattern inspired by the street art scene in Berlin. The set comes with a buffing brush (for powder and mineral foundation), contour brush, stippling brush, deluxe crease brush and a base shadow brush.
What I love most about Real Techniques is that the bristles are sturdy, densely packed and firm with minimal shedding. The fluffy, fine tips are great for picking up and blending product seamlessly and they feel soft and comfortable against the skin. The contour brush provides a streak-free finish and the base shadow brush fits nicely in the crease to define and accentuate the eyes. I use the buffing brush with setting powders or blush and stippling in my foundation makes my skin look flawless! The set retails for $34.99.
Eventually your brushes become saturated with product and you will have to do something all makeup wearers dread – wash them! Although the process can be tedious, keeping your tools sanitary and clean prevents bacteria build-up and nasty breakouts. The Deep Cleansing Gel ($13.49) is alcohol and phthalate free for gentle foaming action that does not damage the bristles. Use it with the Cleaning Palette and water to get rid of makeup residue, oil, dust and impurities that reduce the effectiveness of your tools.
The palette also has a hand strap and various rubbery bumps and grooves along the surface to enhance lather and get between the fibers for effective cleansing. It retails for $19.99.
Real Techniques is available at farleyco.ca, Walmart and select drugstores (Jean Coutu, Pharmasave & Uniprix).
