On my recent trip to Venice I was captivated by all the colorful glass displayed in the windows of quaint little shops tucked into the beautiful cobble stone streets. Murano Island, 1.5 kilometers from central Venice is popular for its unique glass.

Murano glass is the “largest proportion of Venetian glass” and every piece is handmade predominantly by local inhabitants. Although the style of Murano glass making has remained the same over the years and the industry is not as popular due to increasing foreign suppliers, I love the traditional patterns and colors!

Every piece of jewelry seems distinctive and unlike anything else in my collection. The price of this famous glass depends on the size of the piece; bowls and vases can cost hundreds of Euros while travelers can purchase smaller items at more affordable prices.
