Ben Nye Banana Powder Review

Today I am going to review a popular setting powder by Ben Nye. This is one of the first products I have tried from this brand and I am glad I did! I purchased it at IMATS for about $9 and it also comes in a larger size.

Banana Powder is a loose yellow powder that applies with a minuscule amount of color to help set makeup. It is also commonly used to brighten under the eyes.

The powder only comes in one color and is suppose to be well suited to all skin tones but the sales reps informed me that it works especially well on medium, tan, warm, yellow and deep complexions and undertones; although many women with light/fair skin tones also use this powder successfully. Despite the color it is quite translucent.

This powder is one of the best I have used in terms
of providing a nice matte finish. I like the way it sets and finishes my makeup for a very sleek, even tone and it gets rid of all shine. A little goes a long way and as I sweep it over my face it seems to absorb oil and produce a lovely natural look. I did find that in warmer temperatures I have to re- powder my face through the day but in the winter months I don't usually have to.

The only issue I have is with the packaging. It has a flat sifter top but once the powder comes out there is nowhere to contain it and getting the left over back in the jar is difficult. I have taken to transferring it into a smaller container for easier dispensing and travel but I have definitely wasted powder due to the packaging.

I also mix some of this powder with a bit of my Make-Up-Forever HD powder and it produces beautiful results. I will have a review on that setting powder coming up soon.

Overall this is a great product and helps skin look wonderful when going for a flawless finish. I will definitely be repurchasing it.

  2. This sounds like a great setting powder! I think I might look for this when I run out of the two I have right now. I have a really orange undertone to my skin so this sounds perfect! Great review. :)

  5. This is my favorite under eye powder. I have used this daily and only used up a tiny bit. I, too, wish the packaging is better. I waste so much from sifting too much out.

  8. You should post before and after pics of it under your eye! :) I have been looking for a good setting powder but I'm too cheap to buy something like makeup forever, lol. This is a good price, but that packaging looks annoying. I wonder how they assumed you'd get it out...

  13. The Ben Nye Powders come in multiple colors, from fair to ebony. They also have two translucent powders. The Banana one is just the most popular. I love it.https://www.theatricalmakeupsupplies. com/facepowders.php Just in case you might be on the hunt for the other colors

  14. I really love this product. The MUFE HD Powder is a better setting option in my opinion, but this is the cheaper option and it also works great. You can purchase this product for great prices on many online websites that I have found.
