FACE atelier Cosmetic Review - Lipstick and Eye Shadow

Today I have a review on a cosmetics brand called FACE atelier, a line that makes beauty tools and products for the face, lips and eyes. The motto of this brand is simple - “being beautiful is about being the best you can be” and I’m all for positivity and beauty that radiates from the inside out. Their products also contain natural, ingredients and are cruelty free.

The Lipsticks retail for $22.00 each and are categorized by color: ranging from neutrals, reds, pinks, burgundy, corals and golds. I chose the shade Revenge since fall is just around the corner and warm burgundy and red hues will soon be back in season. This beautiful shade is deep and rich but the formula was thick, very sticky and smelled a bit off. I had a hard time applying this lipstick because it didn't glide on smoothly. Maybe I just happened to get one from an older batch which is a shame because the color is highly pigmented and stunning!

You can check out the other shades by clicking HERE.

On a brighter note the loose shimmer eye shadows are gorgeous! With a good primer they adhere well to the skin, offer full, consistent coverage and excellent color pay-off. The dazzling light reflecting particles make eyes gleam and stand out with brilliant color and they are easy to blend and build to the saturation you desire.

The shadows are also non-creasing, long-lasting and you can use them sparingly because a little goes a long way. The photos on the website are a bit one dimensional but in person the pigments sparkle beautifully!

The shadows are also multipurpose, some of the shades can be mixed into your moisturizer for an all over glow and you can also use them to intensify your favorite lip gloss! The pigments retail for $22.00 per .15oz /4.25g and sample size jars like the ones featured in this post are just $1.00 each. You can find them by clicking HERE.

Silk Naturals Mineral Eye Shadow Review

When I find products that are affordable, great quality and safe it keeps me going back for more. In March I reviewed the beautiful mineral eye shadows from Silk Naturals and today I have even more gorgeous colors to share.

Silk Naturals is a company that strives to create homemade beauty products with more natural ingredients including vegan and gluten free options. The loose pigments are my favorite items from the brand because of the vivid, vivacious colors! These shadows are highly saturated, easy to build and there are over 275 shades available! With so much variety it is difficult to pick favorites and the swatches online do not express the amazing multi-dimensional shimmer, deep rich hues and smooth texture.

The shadows come in small jars with a sifter top that is easily removable and each 5g jar contains about ¾ teaspoon of pigment. With these shadows a little goes a long way and the texture is soft, fine and easy to apply for non-creasing, long-wear coverage. They are also available in matte, shimmer and glitter finishes.

The shades I have are:
*Loaded- a rose gold
*Kick- this purple is not as solid as the others; it is slightly transparent with a layer of pretty glitter
*Vandal-deep shimmery blue
*Element- a true Midas gold that is yellow based
*Rouge- light shimmery blue
*Swamp-  matte, light green, (a bit darker than lime green)
*Burnout-shimmery, deep burgundy/plum
*Magpie- shimmery blue/silver (but up close it seems to contain flecks of sea foam green!)

(swatched over Silk Natural's Stick em primer)

My favorite blue shadow called Paranormal is from this brand and I love how easy they blend. I prefer loose pigments because the color pay-off is usually more intense than the pressed variety and provide a wider range of saturation to play with. When paired with Silk Natural’s Stick em primer the shadows adhere well to skin and look stunning!

If you are new to loose shadow I recommend using the following method of application:
1. Refrain from applying face makeup such as: foundation, concealer, blush etc until AFTER you complete your eye makeup. This reduces the chance of fall-out messing up your makeup.
2. Use a flat shadow brush and dab it into the pigment
3. Gently knock off excess shadow on the side of the jar to help prevent fall-out
4. Using small dabbing motions press the pigment onto the lids starting at the center and working your way out.
5. Build up the color to your desired saturation

(Lid color: Loaded)

This brand has something for every skin tone and satisfies every preference; whether you like neutrals, medium tones or brights. There are also colors available for every season and occasion and the shimmer colors catch the light and look beautifully iridescent in the summer. I definitely recommend trying these pigments and they make a fabulous gift for any makeup lover! They retail for just $4.50 each and you can check out the website by clicking HERE.

Annabelle Cosmetics Mineral Pigment Dust

When it comes to eye shadows my favorite formulas tend to be loose pigments. Loose mineral shadows usually provide more color pay-off and vibrancy compared to the average pressed variety. I have been using Annabelle shadows for years; in fact some of my very first eye shadows were from this brand and they tend to have a long shelf life. Today I have a review on the Mineral Pigment Dust in a gorgeous olive green called Eco Chic.

This Pigment is rich and contains fragments of fine glitter and pearl particles that catch light and make eyes standout. With a good primer it provides long-wear and the the color is substantially brighter than it appears in the jar with a high shimmer finish.

Using a flat shadow brush I pat the pigment onto my lids; do not use swiping motions as this tends to scatter the particles and create fall-out. The packaging is designed with a hole at the top instead of a sifter which is less messy but a bit difficult to dip a brush into so I usually open the jar.

Below is a look I created using Eco Chic. The shadow is easy to work with and the color adheres well to skin allowing you to build-up the saturation and intensity. I paired it with Annabelle's retractable lip pencil and Annabelle's Beauty Balm, both of which I will be reviewing soon.

The shadows are available in 6 great shades and are talc, paraben and perfume free. They can also be applied wet for more dramatic results and retail for $8.95 each. The quality is very good so I definitely recommend trying them. You can find them online HERE and at select drug stores including Shoppers Drug Mart.

Annabelle Eye Makeup Remover Pads
After applying this gorgeous shadow and adding layers of mascara and liner I needed something to remove my eye makeup effectively. Annabelle has some fantastic fragrance-free, moisturizing remover pads that help lift and dissolve waterproof and long-wear makeup.

There are 75 pads per jar and the size is convenient for use on the go or travel. Each pad is soaked in an oil formula which helps emulsify makeup without irritating eyes or skin. Although there is sufficient oil, the pads are mess-free and non-drip.

They work well to loosen stiff, mascara coated lashes and wipe away liner and shadow quickly and efficiently. I recommend folding the pad over lashes and holding for a few seconds to gently loosen mascara and reduce the loss of lashes.

The pads are perfume free which is ideal for those with allergies or sensitive skin. Although they work like a charm the jar does smells strongly of oil but individual pads do not have a strong odor. They are effective despite their thinness but they do tend to stick together. Overall they are great!

You can find the makeup remover HERE, it retails for $6.95

Madison Street Beauty Mineral Eye Shadow Review

Today I am going to bring you a review on some stunning mineral eye shadows by Madison Street Beauty. This beauty company creates environmentally friendly, 100% natural, vegan cosmetics that are not only safe but absolutely gorgeous and great quality. Although I buy all types of makeup it is always an added bonus when I find a brand that I know is cruelty free and won't harm my skin.

I received these beautiful loose shadows in an array of vibrant colors. When you visit the website there are so many color options to choose from that I found it difficult to narrow down which ones I wanted! Madison Street Beauty has something for everyone, whether you like soft hues, warm tones neutral colors or bold shades they have you covered.

Sizes
These shadows come in 3 different sizes, large (2.5g), regular (1g) and sample size (0.5g). The different sizes allows you to get as much or as little color as you want. If you already know what colors are your favorites then the large jars are great, if you aren't sure what to choose then you can opt for the sample jars and get a large variety.
Price
Right now on the website there are a lot of shades on sale. The regular prices for these shadows are only $4.99 each (for the 1g jar) and some are on sale for $2. Madison Street Beauty has successfully combined high quality, safe eye shadows at extremely affordable prices.

Lets take a look at the colors I picked...

Quality
These mineral shadows apply incredibly pigmented! Unlike some loose shadows that are hard to build up these apply smooth and if you pat them on it is very easy to build up the colors and blend them out. I always wear a good eye shadow primer under my eye makeup but when swatching these shadows on my hand they were so pigmented that I didn't even need to use a primer to capture the richness of the colors for the photos below.

Finish &Texture
I am already planning which holiday events I am going to wear these gorgeous colors to. The shade Ocean Coral has the most glitter particles and gives off a nice sparkle effect; the rest of the shadows have a velvety smooth metallic finish.
Packaging
Not only are these shadows long lasting but they don’t crease if you prime your eyelids and the jars have a sifter so you can control the amount of product that dispenses. The design is simple yet effective. For shipping I liked that the jars were shrink wrapped and secured because I hate it when my shadows are damaged and scattered into a mangled mess when they arrive at my door. The amount of product you receive per jar is determined by weight and the density of the individual shadow.

More Makeup!
Madison street beauty also sells: nail lacquer, blush, bronzer, concealer, foundation, lip balm, setting powder tools and everything is eco friendly! I would love to try out some more items from this brand because the shadows are amazing and I would definitely recommend them.

Glistening Emerald
I created this look using the color Emerald. This would be great option for Holiday parties, and events. It was simple to achieve this level of pigmentation, I actually used very little shadow and it produced an amazing effect.
Stars & Storms
For this look I used the colors Silver Star and Storm. I think this rich blue is a beautiful hue and easier to wear than lighter shades of blue. Silver Star can be paired with almost any other color or used as a highlight to brighten up the eyes. I used an eye shadow primer and built up the color to achieve this deep blue saturation.

Application
I am in awe at how beautiful and what great quality these shadows are. I recommend sifting out a tiny bit of product and dipping the brush into the jar. I also suggest using a good primer as your base and a flat eye shadow brush to pat the color onto the lid for less mess. My shadow remained looking great the entire day. I also recommend applying these eye shadows before applying any foundation, concealer or powder to your face so that you won't mess up your makeup if there is any fallout.
