Today I was watching Dr. Oz and he was doing a segment on the secrets the beauty industry does not want you to know. There were a lot of interesting information so I am going to share some of it with you.
Dermatologist approved claims:
When a product claims that it is dermatologist approved it does not meant that a team of doctors approved it, it could mean that just one doctor approved it. The claim “dermatologist approved” is a marketing gimmick to encourage people to buy the product.
When a product claims that it is “hypoallergenic” it does not mean that it will prevent you from breakouts or allergic reactions. Many products claim to be hypoallergenic but legally it does not mean anything.
If the product contains alcohols and fragrance it could potentially cause you to breakout.
The truth about eye creams:
“Eye creams are just glorified moisturizers” according to the doctors and specialists on Dr. Oz. They contain many of the same if not identical ingredients to regular moisturizers but they cost twice as much and come in bottles half the size.
For an effective eye cream look for the ingredients: retiniol and vitamin e.
The truth about mascara ads:
I have always know about this one; the models in the mascara ads wear false eyelashes and the products themselves could never produce the same effects for consumers. The ads make it seem like the mascara produced dramatic effects when in reality it is the false lashes that dramatize the lashes.
Expert tips on how to make your lashes look the best:
Use a primer before applying your mascara and roll the mascara brush back and forth on top of your lashes and underneath your lashes. Repeat the same technique with the mascara.
