Stila Eyes Are The Window Eye Shadow Palette Review & Swatches

When it comes to high quality pigment and stunning variety, Stila is way up there on my list of faves. I Know I’ve reviewed the popular Eyes Are The Window Palette before in the Spirit Collection but this time I’m warming things up for fall and transitioning from cool tones to warm, sultry hues.

This color collection is called Mind and along with a row of basic neutrals for transitioning, creating a base, blending and highlighting, it also has two rows of warm, rich shadows perfect for the season! The contrast of light and dark tones is always appealing and although I would have liked a few gold, copper, garnet or silvery hues for the lids, the palette has most of what I need to create the perfect day looks and deeper effects for a night out.

The middle row contains a selection of cream, grey and orange which I like using in the crease and blending with browns. The last row consists of rich, crease enhancing shades like black, deep burgundy, mocha and caramel which expertly deepen, shape and sculpt.

The texture of the shadow is smooth and easy enough to blend but a little more creaminess in the powder formulation would have made them even better! I am able to achieve a beautiful gradient and a nice level of smokiness for bold, eye-catching creations.

All of the shadows in this palette are matte so combined with the shades from the Spirit Palette (in the photo below) I have a beautiful selection to work with. (Review & swatches of this palette can be found HERE).

As mentioned I don’t think this range has quite enough options for the lids but the pigmentation is good so you can layer and intensify for more saturation. I highly recommend a good primer to really enhance the color but overall I have no issue with creasing or fading and I think these shades are suitable for all complexions. As you start mixing and matching, the combinations you can create are stunning and the darker shades pair beautifully with shimmers and glitter for textural versatility.

If you are looking for a nice range of essential shades for professional results this palette is a great option. It retails for $59.00 at Sephora.

Stila Magnificent Metals Foil Finish Eye Shadow Review

This year I have been enjoying the gorgeous products released by Stila and today I have a review on the Metal Foil eye shadows which I have wanted to try since they were first launched. If you find yourself browsing the makeup isles at Shoppers Drug mart, Murale or Sephora keep your eyes peeled for these vivid beauties and when you swatch them be warned that you will probably become as obsessed as I am!

The shadows provide versatile wear from a light wash of color to bold, heavy metal coverage that is striking and gorgeous! The shade I have – (Metallic Jade) also contains glistening glitter particles for eyes that standout and sparkle! These shadows can definitely create festive looks for the upcoming holiday season, glam parties and events.

How to use:
The Stila liquid eye shadow primer helps the metallic finish adhere to skin, enhance the color and prolong its wear. To use simply mix a drop of primer and a dab of the shadow in the metal mixing tray and gently press the mixture to the center of the lids with your finger.

I am not a big fan of using my finger to apply my shadow but because of the texture a brush doesn't quite pick up the color or transfer it to the lids. I put a drop of primer on the back of my hand, dabbed my finger into in and then spread it evenly over my eyelids. I then used a sponge tip applicator to apply the shadow in one direction from the inside out. The color is very buildable and layering it as I have done increases the intensity for a dramatic effect. When you first touch the shadow in the pan you may notice that it is a bit chunky, but when you break through the top layer the shadow underneath is a textured cream and can be lifted out and smoothed over the skin quite easily.

On my lips I am wearing the Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss in the shade 90 Vinyl Nude. For a full review click - HERE.

I always prefer color that I can build-up and I love the finish and bold effect of these shadows! I had no issues with fading throughout the day and the primer prevents creasing, smudging and fall-out.

The Metal Foil shadows retail for $42.00 each and you can pick up the primer for $26.00.

Stila Eye Shadow Trio Review - Gold Glow

Today you might want to grab your beverage of choice and pull up a chair because I am featuring a brilliant gem by Stila Cosmetics that will make an eye shadow fan out of the most color hesitant beauty shoppers. This year Stila has released some brilliant shadows but the Gold Glow Trio will bring out your inner goddess.

Designed for both wet and dry application the baked shadows are housed in a beautiful domed palette that unites a gorgeous intermingling of gold, copper and ivory. The shades can be worn together or individually to create a variety of stunning effects and the quality is excellent!

The best thing about these shadows aside from shades that are suitable for every season and a variety of occasions is the amazing pigmentation! One swipe across the lids produces rich, luminous color that is smooth, non-chalky and vibrant. The saturation is excellent with or without a primer and you don’t have to work hard to increase the intensity for dramatic looks.

The texture is smooth and silky and although the finish is quite metallic and contains shimmer there is minimal fallout and no creasing. Due to the close proximity of the colors they can mesh together and overlap in the palette but they provide dazzling, full coverage for a glamours yet soft effect. These hues are suitable for all skin tones and the range of light medium and dark is useful for lids, crease and brow bone highlight.

I am definitely impressed with these Stila shadows and the trio is also available in: Bronze Glow and Rose-Gold Glow. It retails for $28.00 U.S / $32.00 CAN and is available at Shoppers Drug Mart, Murale and Sephora.
