Burt’s Bees Matte Stick - Review and Swatches

When it comes to eco-friendly simple makeup no one does it better than Burt’s Bees. Their new Matte Sticks ($10.99 ea) are 100% natural - made with a nourishing blend of jojoba, cocoa butter and kokum to keep lips smooth, soft and smooch-worthy.

When you don’t want to wear heavy, solid shades these lipsticks are a great option for quick summer looks. In the nude category from left to right and light to dark your options are - 410 Rippling Rose, 420 Muted Mauve, 425 Buttery Blush and 430 Canyon Creek.

The mineral rich pigment provides light to medium coverage with a sheer, shine-free finish. If you like tinted balms that soften and condition dry skin, you’ll love these! They feel great and last for hours without feathering or flaking.

There are 12 shades available with undertones for every complexion and the supple, lightweight formula makes lips appear plump and healthy with a natural flush.

In the pink and red range you have – 465 Rhubarb Rapids, 450 Rush of Raspberries, 455 Liquid Ruby and 460 Crimson Cascade.

The lipsticks are not as creamy as they look so the color does not glide on adequately in a single swipe. It took several layers to achieve the vibrancy I wanted and the finish is much better if your lips are smooth and exfoliated.

The purple and browns remind me of fall – 475 Liquid Honey, 480 Mulberry Mist, 440 Lilac Lagoon and 470 Puddle Plum.

Matte Sticks are great for work, travel and everyday wear. Find this cute collection at burtsbees.ca, Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart, health food stores, Whole Foods and more.

Swatches from left to right (my favorites have a star* beside them): Lilac Lagoon, *Crimson Cascade, Liquid Honey, Rhubarb Rapids, Liquid Ruby, *Puddle of Plum, Butter Blush, *Rush if Raspberry, Mulberry Mist, *Canyon Creek and Melted Mauve.

Burt’s Bees Lipstick Review

They’re here! One of our favorite all-natural beauty brands has released a stunning array of lipsticks in 14 tempting hues.

When Burt’s came out with their collection of jumbo lip pencils I was instantly hooked and when I saw these babies lining drugstore shelves I knew I had to try them! The lipsticks come in long tubes with cute honeycomb caps and the classic yet trendy shade selection reflects the simplicity of the brand - pinks, reds coral and nude.

Like all the makeup from Burt's Bees, these lipsticks aren’t just about pretty pops of color, they also replenish the skin with nourishing Shea butter, Moringa, Sunflower, Castor oil, Beeswax, Raspberry Seed Oil and Vitamin E to soften and condition your lips all day. This fabulous formula is ultra lightweight and moisturizing so lips feel smooth, supple and restored while looking bright and radiant. Like the famous lip balms, they keep your pout chap-free and healthy with a touch of glam for good measure.

The lush texture glides on effortlessly and the pigmentation of the first layer or two is actually quite sheer and satiny with luminous shine. If you prefer more intensity you can enhance the color to medium coverage for a bold, rich finish.

Many of the hues I chose are quite deep and reminiscent of fall but I can’t seem to stay away from the seductive berries, wines, pinks and red tones that appear so alluring on the lips! For summer soirees and a night on the town these pretty colors compliment your skin and glowing bronzers with warm, flattering undertones. I’ve also discovered that they fade very nicely so you can even blend them lightly on the cheeks to create a stain and wear your favorite shades as blush.

Although the pigment is meant to stay put for up to 8 hours, like most creamy lipsticks they are prone to a bit of transfer. I find that using a lip primer helps reinforce the colors but they tend not to feather or bleed and once applied the moist formula feels so comfortable you may even forget you have it on!

(Bottom to top) 521 Ruby Ripple, 514 Brimming Berry, 511 Magenta Rush, 532 Russet River, 512 Fuchsia Flood, 520 Scarlet Soaked

The lipsticks are available at drugstores nationwide for $9.99 each and you can visit the website by clicking HERE.
