Joe Fresh Beauty - Summer 2018 Makeup Collection

Summer seems to be flying by! I have no idea what happened to May or June but I’m going to enjoy July for as long as it lasts. Recently I've been touring the vineyards in Niagara, reviewing amazing shows and embarking on scenic road trips. In my travel tote you’ll find the new Joe Fresh Beauty Collection featuring neutral shadows, glossy lip oils and iridescent blush for a pop of radiance.

Rose Neutrals ($14.00) is the perfect grab-and-go palette for quick, effortless looks and the alluring shades compliment all skin tones. The combination of light and dark creates lovely contrast and you can go from simple to smokey by deepening the crease. Smudge the sultry browns under the lower lash line to create a smoldering shadow and highlight the inner corners for more drama. The color payoff is soft but pretty and the silky texture blends well without creasing. To intensify your look, layer the pigments over primer.

Lip oils are intensely hydrating, soothing and comfortable with brilliant shine that can plump-up your pout. These transparent formulas (available in coconut, rose and pomegranate) smell delicious, feel amazing and keep my lips soft, healthy and thoroughly quenched with no stickiness. The large paddle is good for application but takes up so much room in the tube that they can only be filled halfway (bummer). The lightweight texture is perfect for reviving matte lipsticks and the oils retail for just $8.00 each.

It seems like there is a new mascara on the market everyday (all claiming to do the same thing), so I only feature the few that standout. Lash Lift ($12.00) is a little different, the formula is enriched with olive extract to nourish delicate hair and deep pigment for natural looking definition. The innovative round tip wand is designed to lengthen hard-to-reach areas including lower lashes and the spindly bristles grab, extend and separate with minimal clumping.

The Color Me Pink Blush Trio ($12.00) contains 3 velvety shades that blend seamlessly for a natural flush. My favorite hue is the shimmery berry which illuminates and defines but you can also mix the colors together for custom finishes. The pink and peach look very similar on my skin but the soft simplicity is perfect for daily wear.

Bright, shiny color is on-trend this season so you might want to stock-up on the Joe Fresh Lip Lacquers ($7.00 each). Infused with moisturizing shea butter for smooth application, these non-sticky pigments drench your pout in sheer, vibrant color.

If you prefer matte hues, try the new Cushion Lipsticks ($12.00 each). The pillow applicator delivers saturated color infused with vitamin E for a lightweight, powdery finish.

Joe Fresh has also released 2 new summer mists to help you survive the heat. Fresh & Go Hydrating Spray ($10.00) primes, hydrates and revitalizes for flawless makeup application. You may have to blend the larger droplets with your finger but it does smooth and mattify. Stay All Day ($10.00) is a setting spray that locks in makeup so pigments are more resistant to perspiration and humidity. The fluid tends to dispense inconsistently (a fine mist would be more efficient) but it dries quickly without residue and feels light, refreshing and non-irritating.

Joe Fresh Beauty Review: 2017 Spring Collection & New Makeup

It has been a while since I featured anything new from Joe Fresh and along with their casual yet stylish fashion, the makeup is also quite trendy! I’ve been using the vibrant lip crèmes and luminous highlighters since the brand's last big product launch and today I’m excited to share some great items that have been released in time for spring.

The Single Eyeshadows Retail for $6.00 each or 2 for $10.00 and the silky shades range from neutrals to deep smoky hues in matte, subtle glitter and shimmer finishes. What I like most about these shadows is their simplicity. The colors are flattering, soft and effortless with the ability to be intensified and layered for more coverage.

The pigmentation is versatile with good color payoff and the formula is easy to work with. You can pick out a few favourites to mix and match or pair them with other shades in your collection. They also come in handy while traveling.

My top picks are Pretty Penny (shimmery gold) and Champagne which is a great neutral for everyday wear.

A pretty tinted balm on a warm spring day provides the perfect wash of complexion boosting color. The Joe Fresh Balms are available in 10 gorgeous shades loaded with antioxidants, shea butter, passion fruit oil, grapeseed, sunflower, rosehip and avocado to soften, hydrate, strengthen and repair damaged lips. I love the sweet fruity scent and the sheer, shiny color is revitalizing, lightweight, non-sticky and radiant. If you like tinted balms you should definitely give these a try, they retail for $12.00 each.

If you love a good highlighter (as most makeup junkies do) then you need to get the Pink Pearl luminizing stick! The smooth, velvety texture glides on evenly and dewy for perfect application exactly where you want it. The finish transforms from a lightweight cream to a satiny powder so it sets well and can be blended out with a finger or brush. The pigmentation is great so you can achieve a subtle glow or a dramatic effect and this shade is suitable for all skin tones. The Highlighter Stick retails for $10.00.

I wasn’t quite sure how The Universal Brow Crayon ($12.00) was going to work for everyone since the shade is light brown and doesn’t seem to adjust. As it turns out it didn’t match my hair color and left behind an ashy streak that wasn’t nearly dark enough. I like that pomade texture holds hairs in place but a few more shades would have been nice.

Joe Fresh Beauty Review: New Core Products!

If you haven’t heard, Joe Fresh has an awesome new beauty collection on-par with their popular fashion line when it comes to everyday use and trendiness. Since I love the highlight powders, lipsticks, lip creams and blush sticks, I was excited to test out the new core products.

The first thing that caught my eye as I unzipped the cute striped makeup bag was the Neutral Eye Shadow Palette. I know that nude palettes have been saturating the beauty scene for awhile and you're probably thinking that you don’t need another, but I recommend taking a look at this one.

The shades in this collection are infused with sparkling multidimensional shimmer and creamy mattes that are anything but boring. The selection includes many of the colors most of us tend to favor on a daily basis including a mix of classic golds, trendy rose gold and beautiful silver with pops of champagne. There are only 4 matte hues but the brand chose them very wisely. You get a fabulous cream to highlight, a beige hue to transition plus deep brown and black for definition and shaping. Although the palette is classified as “neutral” don’t let that fool you, the dark colors create depth, dimension and smokiness.

For just $14.00 you get 12 complexion flattering, velvety shadows that glide on easy, blend well and stay put. The compact itself has a brilliant array of color and texture that can go from tame to glam yet it is small, thin and light enough for travel. The quality and pigmentation is good although a few shades are soft, sheer and less vivid than the others. Most of the shadows can be enhanced to medium coverage and the deepest shades have full-coverage potential.

I swatched some of my favorite shades to show saturation (please excuse the repeat grey swatch)

The Universal Beauty Balm is a nourishing moisturizer that helps soften and relieve dryness on the face, hands and body. I love a good multi-purpose product and this purse-size tube is handy for use on-the-go. The balm smells really good and reminds me of shea with a buttery consistency and supple finish. I use it for treating rough patches like knees or elbows and it gets right in-between the fingers to soften hands. I did notice a little bit of residue but it isn’t greasy and makes a great cuticle treatment. The balm retails for $10.00.

As mentioned, I like the the Joe Fresh Matte Lipsticks for their bold, pure color and lightweight creamy texture. The pigments apply effortlessly without feathering and they don’t make lips feel dry or uncomfortable so don’t be scared off by their matte-ness. Although the lipsticks are quite intense (which I love) you can tone them down for a softer finish. The fun, vibrant shades featured here are Fuchsia and Raspberry which look ravishing on all skin tones. The lipsticks smell great and retail for $10.00 ea.

I don’t know about you, but my brows seem to have a mind of their own so I need a product to keep them “on-fleek” all day. The Universal Brow Sculpting Wax applies translucent with a slight brown tinge and sculpts in one easy step. Keep in mind that this product is meant for grooming and does not replace brow gel, powder or pencils. The only recommendation I have is to let your brow fillers/color dry completely before using this to prevent smudging. The wax retails for $12.00.

I always finish my makeup with a great translucent powder because it gives my foundation a smooth look and helps control oil. This one uses color-correcting pigments to even out skin tone and dull problem areas. The finish is lightweight, silky and suitable for all complexions (when blended well). I’ve also noticed that it helps mattify, diminish the look of enlarged pores, blurs redness and subtly tames harsh undertones. You may not notice huge correcting benefits but it does seem to improve skin texture and rectify mild discolorations. The powder retails for $12.00.
