Beauty Box Five Review: May 2014

This month Beauty Box Five is all about relaxing and taking the time to pamper yourself. This is a great theme since life can get hectic and when it does your skin can show it. First let’s take a moment to review how the service works.
How it works:
Beauty Box Five is a subscription service that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. In this box you will receive a mix of luxury items as well as common brands ranging from hair products, skin products, nail products, fragrances and beauty accessories. The box contains 5 products and usually includes one or two full sized items. The purpose of the subscription is to explore a variety of brands in order to determine which products work best for you.

This week the box included some goodies to help revitalize skin and add a touch of floral freshness!

Masker Aide Hydrating Facial Sheet Mask: full size included (retail value $5.99)

I was excited to see this mask in the box because I have used them before. I like how wet and hydrating the serum is and they are great for rejuvenating skin before events or to kick off a fun weekend. This week I am leaving for a European vacation and I will be using this mask the night before take-off to help prepare my skin for the long journey.

H20 Plus Aqualibrium Marine Cleansing Gel: sample size included ( full size retail value- ($18)

Beauty Box Five has included this brand in a few boxes and I tend to like the products. The gel is made from sea salt to gently exfoliate and protect against free radicals and environmental damage. To use: massage into skin, rinse and pat dry. This is a rather small sample and may only be good for a couple of uses.

Ban Total Refresh Cooling Body Cloths: 3 cloths included: (retail value $2.97-10 cloths)

These wipes are meant to be used after the gym, a long day at work, before a big date or anytime you need to cool-off and refresh your body. They contain superfine powder so “skin stays smooth and comfortable all day.” These are a great idea for long summer days spent outdoors, vacations or the beach!

Harvey Prince - Hello Perfume: sample size included (retail value for full size-$55)

I love smelling great so I always have delicious smelling products on hand. Sample bottles of perfume are ideal for travel because it lessens your load and you don’t have to worry about breaking an expensive bottle of perfume. At first I wasn't sure if I liked this scent and it took a few sniffs to get use to, but once I did, I enjoyed it. It combines citrus, floral and sweet notes which is a nice, light scent for summer. The longer you wear it the better it tends to smell.

Cattiva Precision Eye Liner (full size included, retail value $20)

original photo frm: CattivaCosmetics.com

Waterproof eye liner is a must-have for summer. It isn't cute when eye makeup melts off and causes unsightly darkness under the eyes. What I like about this pencil is that it is retractable, so no sharpening is required! I have no patience sharpening pencils just to have them break off or get warped. Although I tend to use gel and liquid liners most often, this pencil is easy to work with and draws on a bold, dark line. You may have to wait awhile for it to set because if you touch it right away it tends to smudge.

Overall this month’s box included some useful summer essentials! To see what was in last month's box click HERE and you can find out more about this subscription service HERE.

MaskerAide Pre Party Prep Facial Mask Review

At the end of a busy week I like to pamper my skin, so every Friday night I relax in the comfort of my home and do a complete facial. Not only does my personal spa day allow me to unwind and have some much needed me-time which I think every woman needs, but it also rejuvenates my skin and erases some of the noticeable stress so I can get ready to enjoy the weekend.

Recently I have been using a new face mask by MaskerAide. Let’s take a moment to appreciate the appealing name and packaging. I love the cute girly design and these would be a perfect addition to a girl's night beauty session with friends.

Helping you prepare for some fun!
MaskerAide facial masks are super easy and convenient to use because they come in one simple mess free sheet that brightens nourishes and hydrates the skin. These masks are soaked in rich ingredients that improves the skin’s appearance and provides a fresh glow. They are called pre party prep for a good reason! They are made to help get you ready for any event you have planned by “priming your skin for a flawless, velvety smooth finish.” They are also handy because they are easy to take with you and use on weekend trips or vacations.
Benefits of MaskerAide facial masks

Beneficial Ingredients
I love products that use great ingredients and these masks contain some natural elements such as:

Directions
To use this mask all you have to do is follow the three simple steps on the back of the pack. It only takes 15-20 minutes, which is time I use to lay in bed with some music, read a book and just relax. You can use this mask daily or once per week.

I will be attending the Steven and Chris TV show which airs on CTV so I wanted to prepare my skin to be seen on national television! I had a little prep session with my MaskerAide mask the day before and my skin was fresh and ready for some high definition makeup.

The first thing I do before using this mask is cleanse my face. I use my Clarisonic so that the serum from the mask can better absorb into my skin. The mask is very cooling and refreshing and adheres to the skin quite easily. I was surprised that the mask fit so well around the eyes nose and mouth and I really like how wet it is, it was literally dripping with the serum. When I rinsed the serum off my face with water my skin felt clean and there was no residue left behind.

I actually prefer this mask to my usual clay and mud masks because usually when those dry on my face they make my skin feel tight and itchy but this mask stayed wet the entire time and didn't end up caked into my hair or clothes. The smell is also pleasant. I followed up my mask with a moisturizer.

Cost and where to purchase
These masks cost $5.99 each and are available at maskeraide.com/

Other types of masks by MaskerAide

Great Gift Idea
Since the holidays are coming up I am on the lookout for great gift ideas and these masks would make a cute gift for friends, a nice addition to a gift basket or even great stocking stuffers for the women in your family.
