The Face Shop Rouge Powder Matte Lipstick | Review and Swatches

This summer I’ve been wearing bold lipstick and neutral eye shadow with winged liner – it’s my go-to look when I don’t have the patience for a 90 minute makeup session.

If you’re looking for dramatic, vibrant color, The Face Shop has just released a gorgeous range of Powder Matte Lipsticks ($22 ea) that compliment all skin tones.

I can’t get enough of the sultry berry, deep pink and mauve undertones. There is also a bright red (for when you’re feeling sassy), a beautiful rose tinted nude, classic coral and a dark red that is perfect for a night out.

The creamy, moisturizing formula glides on buttery smooth and delivers bright, buildable color with a sexy blurring effect. The texture is lightweight and comfortable but the coverage is not completely opaque (almost but not quite). Make sure your lips are smooth and exfoliated because any roughness will show through.

The pigment tends to transfer easily so you will need to reapply after eating and drinking. Make sure to wipe off any crumbs so the texture remains consistent.

If you’d like to try these pretty lippies head to avon.ca.

Swatches (left to right): Rose Powder, Plum Powder, Berry Powder, Coral Powder, Red Powder and Beige Powder.

Avon x The Face Shop | Korean Skincare

Most Avon lovers have at least one Skin So Soft or Anew product on their vanity. These classic collections have been bestsellers for years but new trends emerge everyday and Korean Beauty has become very popular.

Avon has recently teamed up with The Face Shop to offer a great selection of luxurious skincare and cutting-edge treatments that rejuvenate the complexion. Today I’m highlighting a few of my favorite products.

The Mango Seed range is formulated to energize and deeply nourish with a blend of carrot root, hyaluronic acid, shea, sunflower oil and ceramide.

You'll love the dense, paraben-free Moisturizing Butter ($45.00). It softens, plumps and smooths so skin appears radiant and revitalized all winter.

Layer the cream with Mango Seed Oil ($45.00) to protect skin from harsh weather, UV damage and pollution. The lightweight formula is fast absorbing, hydrating and non-greasy – perfect for a replenishing night treatment.

If you prefer something less dense and more refreshing, try the Dr. Belmeur Collection. The Advanced Cica Hydro Cream ($55.00) instantly soothes, cools, moisturizes, strengthens and protects stressed, irritated skin with a healing blend of ceramides, fruit extract, flower oil and hyaluronic acid. It feels great under makeup and I love the citrus floral scent.

The Cica Peptite Ampoule ($53.00) is a concentrated blend of peptides that revive and repair dull sensitive skin. When used frequently it may also firm, lift, smooth and promote elasticity to maintain youthfulness. Both products have a renewing water based formula that is light enough for daytime use.

If you need a surge of moisture Belif offers two skin renewing textures. The True Cream Aqua Bomb ($50.00) is a refreshing weightless gel that increases hydration up to 70%. Formulated with a unique blend of herbs and antioxidants, it also rejuvenates normal/oily/combination skin while minimizing pores.

The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb ($50.00) creates a supple, lightweight veil that quenches dehydrated skin for up to 26 hours. The ingredient list has an impressive variety of extracts and oils including: macadamia, oat, calendula, raspberry, chickweed, rose, clover, willow bark, orange peel, rosemary, lime, mistletoe and much more. With repeated use skin feels silky, plump and healthy with a natural glow.

After applying serum and cream, pamper your skin with Avon's Eclat D’or Youth Activating Massager ($60.00). This simple yet effective tool is easier to use than traditional face rollers because the chrome balls are positioned to manoeuvre around the cheekbones, jawline, neck and décolletage with ease. The gentle kneading motion helps tighten, lift and stimulate circulation while promoting the absorption of skincare products.

THEFACESHOP Winter Beauty Trends: Artist Touch Shadow & Ink Liquid

If you want to take a break from deep fall hues and try something a bit frostier for winter THEFACESHOP has some cute palettes and lip colors to help you transition into the holiday season.

The Artists Touch Eye Shadows are available in a variety of small, travel friendly palettes that come with four trendy hues. Although they look simple and quite neutral they pack a bold punch of color with a gorgeous illuminating effect to enhance the eyes. The texture is luxuriously soft and velvety smooth for buildable coverage that layers well in one swipe which is perfect when you are short on time!

Wet processing technology enables even application and excellent adherence to help the color last all day without fading or creasing. With many eye shadows a primer is needed to accentuate the color but with this palette no base is necessary to showcase the brilliant shades and alluring intensity.

The palette I have is called Peach Fantasia and includes: snowy silver, frosty pink, shimmer peach and a gorgeous shimmery bronze. I like pairing these hues with matte shades from other palettes and they highlight the eyes, lids and brow bones with a pretty pearl finish and luminous shine. The palettes retail for $25.00.

For the lips the Ink Liquid formula is a combination of lipstick, stain and gloss which delivers juicy moisture for lips that appear full and extra pouty. I wouldn’t classify these as lipstick but they do have a creamy texture that layers nicely for sheer to medium coverage and decent pigmentation although the brighter hues seem to deliver more color. Because they contain about 70% water the color glides on nicely to create a comfortable moist layer which is perfect for the dry winter months. The gloss comes in 12 shades from bright flirty red and posh pinks to more neutral shades like beige and rose marsala. The pigment is made to last up to 12 hours and helps define and contour, they retail for $12.00 each.

THEFACESHOP Aloe Emergency Kit

Aloe has many healing and soothing properties and it is commonly used to treat burns, mild bruises, acne and skin irritation. It is also quite hydrating and can frequently be found in many beauty products to nourish, detoxify and protect. I have purchased aloe leafs for gel extraction, homemade face masks and serums and if you spend a lot of time soaking up the sun this vitamin rich plant can help treat red, peeling, sensitive skin.

If you don’t want to go through the messy process of scooping out your own aloe gel THEFACESHOP has released a fabulous Aloe Emergency Kit conveniently packaged in a cute drawstring bag for travel. The collection includes a tub of 99% fresh aloe gel which you can use all over the body to moisturize and alleviate dry skin. It is also infused with chamomile, lavender, grapefruit, sage, basil, rosemary, lemon and more! The consistency is a bit like hair gel without that yucky stickiness and it has a light, pleasant scent. Just a little goes a long way and it distributes evenly over the skin with a quick absorbing formula that feels cool and refreshing! This is a great way to recuperate after a long day at the beach.

Also included the kit is the Aloe Cleansing Foam Face Wash for all skin types. This mild botanical formula is loaded with skin loving natural ingredients like thyme, sage, papaya, willow bark, horse chestnut and grapefruit. It provides an invigorating clean to remove dirt, build up, impurities and makeup while leaving skin lightly moisturized.

If you love a pampering facial treatment like I do then the aloe mask enriched with extracts, raw ingredients, minerals and nutrients is a relaxing escape at the end of a long, scorching day. The mask is soaked in concentrated, luxurious serum to revitalize and calm skin in just 10-12 mins for a healthier looking complexion. This particular aloe extract is from Jeju Island and is known as one of Korea’s 7 wonders of nature!

The kit makes a great addition to your daily or weekly beauty routine and retails for just $16.00 which is a good deal for all the wonderful plant based ingredients! You can find it by clicking HERE.
