Beauty Box Five June 2016 Review

Summer has officially begun and June is almost over! The months seem to be flying by so I’ve been making the most of the nice weather and having fun playing with all the fabulous new beauty products. This month’s Beauty Box Five includes a mix of skincare and makeup plus an interesting tool most beauty junkies are drying to try!

Before I delve into the box let’s review how the service works. Beauty Box Five is a subscription that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. You receive a mix of luxury items and common brands with products for: hair, skin and nails as well as fragrances and beauty accessories. The box contains 5 products and usually includes 1-4 full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands!

Pur-Lisse Blue Lotus Treatment Sheet (full size included - $8.00 value)
If you ask me a girl can never have too many face masks and the sheet variety are great for vacation! Pur-Lisse is a brand that has been included in the box numerous times but this mask is loaded with Asian botanicals, antioxidants, nourishing oils + fruit and plant extracts to soothe and brighten.

Manna Kadar Radiant Bronzer & Highlighter (full size included - $24.00 value)
When I first saw this duo I thought they were shadows and it turns out that you can use them on your eyes as the pigmentation is fabulous and the colors build and blend well. This is another brand that has been in the box several times but the quality has been consistently good and I love how shimmery, smooth and silky these shades are! The highlight is a frosty silver tone and the bronzer has a pretty gold tinge with fantastic coverage and high-impact luminosity that makes skin glowy and gorgeous. I love the combination of light and cool with warm and dewy for versatility.

Sweep Oval Contour & Highlight Brush (full size included - $15.00 value)
These round brushes have become quite popular among makeup lovers and many brands have been releasing their own collections in both high-end and mid range price points. Beauty Box Five decided to include one due to the high volume of requests and I’ve been interested to see what all the hype is about as well. The design reminds me of an old fashion hair brush and although I’m not very familiar with this type of applicator, so far I really like it! The dense, circular surface and handle makes buffing-in product quite simple and the bristles are soft against the skin yet firm. Although it looks a bit like the top of a kabuki it feels different and even though this one is small and made for blush and highlight, I use it for blending concealer and foundation as well. I like that the bristles don’t absorb or soak-up much makeup and it is very easy to wipe clean after each use. It provides a smooth, flawless finish that makes my skin look awesome!

Prestige Cosmetics Brow & lash Brush (full size - $3.25) and Versaspa Gradual Tanning Face Moisturizer (sample included)

We all need a decent brush for keeping our brows neat and although this one gets the job done relatively well, the quality isn’t great. It reminds me of a generic salon brand which is fine but I don’t really need another.

The face moisturizer/gradual tanner may be good for those looking to avoid harmful UV while still rocking a sunkissed glow. The sample is small and I’m not sure how “gradual” the results are but I don’t use tanning products. In the summer I actually avoid all types of tanning so that my foundations continue to match my natural skin tone.

Overall this month’s box was pretty good! I love the face mask, oval brush and highlight/bronzer duo but I’m ready to see a few different brands.

Beauty Box Five March

I know I’m a little behind with my Beauty Box 5 update but in my defense, it was delivered late and I’ve been traveling quite a bit. As the next box makes its way to my door, I’d like to show you what I got in March because there were some innovative new goodies!

The box contains 5 products and usually includes 1-3 full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands!

Glamour Dolls Glitter Eyeliner (full size included - $3.99)
I don’t usually make use of my colorful liners but I do enjoy a splash of glitter from time-to-time. My issue with glitter eyeliner is that many formulas apply inconsistently, sparse and patchy so I kind of gave up on them. Surprisingly, this one is easy to work with and layers well so you can enhance your glittery line with precision and ease. The more I apply, the longer it takes to dry but once it does the particles stay put and look dazzling! If you want a sheer layer of glitter on the lids to compliment your bombshell red lipsticks you can apply this all over or on top of eye shadow for a little extra pizzazz.

Personail Custom Floral nail Wraps (full size included - $12.99)
Nail art lovers and warm weather seekers are going to love these nail wraps! The pastel pink and pretty floral design is perfect for the season and when secured with a clear top coat they can last up to 10 days.

Pur ~ Lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-one Eye Adore Serum (sample size included)
Personally, I can never have too many eye serums since my dark circles need to be addressed daily. This gentle formula fights puffiness, wrinkles and darkness plus you can use it both day and night.

Color Me Sky Blue Fragrance (sample size) & Custom Temporary Tattoo (bonus item)
The fragrance this month is small but the scent is quite trendy and universal for everyday wear. I always take these little samples on vacation and if I had the full-size bottle I’d definitely wear it. The tattoo was a cute touch! I love flowers and since I’ve always contemplated an ankle tattoo this will pair beautifully with my strappy sandals!

Mai Couture Blush Papers (2 samples included)
I’ve tested a lot of products but I’ve never come across blush papers before! I think this is a great idea when you’re out during the day and need to freshen up your complexion or enhance your glow with a pop of color. The papers have a light dusting of shimmer so you get color + highlight in one and you simply rub them directly on the cheeks and discard.

Beauty Box Five December

I am a little behind on my Beauty Boxy Five updates but with the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and the devastation of a recent street fire things have been a bit hectic! December’s box was mostly dedicated to enhancing the eyes and getting your glam-on but before we delve into each product let’s take a moment to review how the service works.

BeautyBox Five is a subscription that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. You receive a mix of luxury items and common brands with products for: hair, skin and nails as well as fragrances and beauty accessories. The box contains 5 products and usually includes 2-3 full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands!

OFRA Shimmer Eye Shadow ($13.50)
This product alone is worth more than what you pay for the entire box which is pretty darn nice! OFRA Cosmetics has been a reoccurring brand in this subscription but their products continue to impress. This single shadow doesn’t come in a palette of its own so I will have to find a spot for it in my NARS refillable but the texture is smooth and velvety and the pigmentation is rich and intense. The shimmery grey is trendy for the season and one of my favorite hues for creating smokey eyes. I also like that it applies full-coverage with little to no fall-out.

Blender Brush ($10.00) and Prestige Cosmetics Total Intensity Eyeliner ($5.95)
Although eyeliners are useful and this one is creamy and highly pigmented I wasn’t very excited about getting another one. I was however happy about the Blender Brush which is actually made by Beauty Box 5! The pointed shape is idea for getting deep into the crease to define the eyes and the tip is sturdy yet flexible enough to blend well which makes it a fabulous addition to my collection!

The Beauty Crop Glamazon Stick ($22.00)
I never tire of beautiful highlight and this one contains nourishing cocoa butter and jojoba. The stick is a twist-up which I like and the color is sheer and silvery with a light dusting of micro-glitter to enhance your glow for holiday parties and New Years Eve. You can use it on your cheeks, brow bone, waterline or lids and the formula is quite blendable.

So Fresh So Clean Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes ($2.99)
These hypoallergenic wipes are great for travel and they help remove dirt, oil and makeup to cleanse pores, remove impurities and balance pH. Since I always need more makeup wipes these were a great addition.

This month’s box was fabulous and all of the items were full size which was a nice surprise! For more info about this subscription click HERE.

Beauty Box Five August 2015

This month’s Beauty Box Five theme is all about adding new shades, tools and hydration to your getting-ready routine and there are four full-size products included!

The box contains 5 products and usually includes 1-3 full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands!

Jerome Alexander Hot Stuff Go Pop Compact (price: $10.99- full size included)
I am always happy when I open my box and see a cute compact and this one looks like a little change purse with 3 shadows, 3 lip glosses and 2 brushes. The pink and purple pigments are girly and fun and the large mirror is great for application. Although I love the adorable packaging it reminds me of the toy compacts I played with as a kid so I didn't have high expectations for the quality. Thankfully I was totally wrong! The shadows are soft, smooth and slightly creamy with great pigmentation and a pretty shimmer finish. The colors apply well with or without primer and they don`t crease or fade. The gloss comes in deep orange, light pink and light orange but the finish is very sheer, shiny and creamy with little pigmentation and a light moisturizing formula.

Donna Max Printed Nail File with case (price: 4.99- fill size included)
Nail files are essential for your mani kit but when they are as cute and cheeky as this one you will definitely want to keep it in your purse! The handy carrying case also prevents it from dulling.

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eyeliner Pen in the shade Plum (price: $19.99- full size included)
Recently I`ve been accumulating quite a few liners and although I didn`t really see the need to include another in this month's box I do like that they incorporated a plum pigment which is super trendy for fall! The point is medium size and the color glides on quite well allowing some versatility with regards to shape and width. I also like that it dries quickly and since the formula is waterproof it tends not to smudge.

Hask Beauty Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment (price: $2.39- full size included)
I am no stranger to Hask conditioner; in fact I have used them several times before with good results! The formula gives my hair a little pick-me-up when I need a boost of moisture and it leaves my strands softer and more resilient. Since I tend to have mishaps with hair products seeping out while I travel these are great for vacation especially when you plan to spend a lot of time in the sun, pool or ocean.

Pur~lisse Pure Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer (sample size included)
These sample tubes are also great for travel, especially short weekend getaways. Pur~lisse is a brand that has popped up in this box before and I do like the anti-aging benefits enriched with plant extracts and vitamin E. This formula is also safe for sensitive skin and provides a good dose of moisture to quench parched skin without the greasy residue.

Overall this month’s box was a hit! I like all the products I received and I’m looking forward to seeing what goodies I get in September! For more information on this subscription you can visit the website by clicking HERE.

Beauty Box Five December

This holiday was busy as usual so my Beauty Box Five was mailed out late and Canada Post didn't get it to my door until Christmas Eve! After the last piece of cake was eaten and the stockings were packed away, I finally got a chance to take a look in my box and it was well worth the wait. This month’s theme is all about taking the time to indulge and brighten your complexion as the hustle and bustle of the holidays simmers down.

Before I delve into the box let’s review how the service works. Beauty Box Five is a subscription service that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. In this box you will receive a mix of luxury items and common brands with products for: hair, skin and nails as well as fragrances and beauty accessories. The box contains 5 products and usually includes one or two full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands.

Jaqua Hand Cream in the scent- Cocoa Buttercream Frosting: (sample size included)
I am a sucker for delicious smelling body products so as soon as I took a whiff of this cream it was love at first sniff!  It smells like decadent frosting, cake, vanilla cupcakes and delicious sweet cocoa! It also contains great ingredients to nourish dry winter skin including: meadowfoam seed oil, soybean oil, cocoa extract, kiwi fruit extract, aloe leaf, flower extracts, mango, peppermint, and vitamins A and E. Although this is a sample, it is perfect purse-size and smells good enough to eat!

Nanacoco Nail Polish in the shade- Diamond: (full size included $3.95)
This is a great polish for New Years Eve or anytime you want brilliant diamond sparkle! I love the chunky, gleaming glitter combined with the micro shimmer particles swimming around in the clear formula. I did have some difficulty transferring the glitter consistently to my nails. I seemed to be getting more clear polish than glitter and with each attempt to transfer more glitter the polish became thicker which also lead to longer drying time.

Absolute New York Nail Polish Remover Pads in the scent- Lemon: (full size included $2.99)
I can never have too many of these cute compact nail polish pads, they are perfect for use on the go and vacations. I like the fresh lemon scent as opposed to the harsh smell of acetone; in fact these pads are acetone free and contain vitamin C & E. They are salon quality, contain real citrus extract and the jar is small enough to slip into a pocket or purse!

Lucky Brand Lucky Number 6 Perfume: (sample size included)
I often take these sample sized perfume bottles on trips so that I can bring a variety of scents with me. This perfume contains notes of: lotus, tiger lily, cashmere woods and jasmine. It has a musky, floral scent with a hint of cherry blossom, I think it smells okay but it isn't my favorite.

Juice Beauty Stem Cellular Moisturizer: (sample size included)
In my last beauty box I received a face mask from Juice Beauty which I enjoyed so I am looking forward to trying this one. It is formulated to “restore your skin with a blend of organic, antioxidant rich plant and fruit oils to help reduce wrinkles, combat sun damage and hydrate.”

Overall this month’s box was great! You can find more information on this beauty subscription by clicking HERE

Beauty Box Five Review

Hi everyone, today I am going to review another beauty subscription called Beauty Box Five. I know that there are a lot of monthly subscriptions circulating so hopefully reviews can help you decide which box is right for you if you are interested in joining any of them.

Beauty Box Five is a subscription service that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. In this box you will receive a mix of luxury items as well as common brands ranging from hair products, skin products, nail products, fragrances and beauty accessories. Usually the box will contain 5 sample products but sometimes there are full size products included. The object of this box is to give you a sense of how a particular product works for you so that you can try out new brands and then purchase whichever ones you like.

The first item is the h2O+ hydrating treatment which is suppose to “deeply hydrate and plump fine lines” making them less noticeable. This product is light blue and has a watery gel consistency. When I tried it I did notice that it slightly smoothed out the texture of my skin so it can be used as a light primer.

The next item is a pink nail polish by nubar called Hot Pink. As you can see on the front of the bottle it is formaldehyde, phthalate and toluene free. The bottle is ideal for travel and although I already have colors very similar to this, it is a nice bright shade and a great color for spring and summer. nubar is not a brand I have tried before.

I also received this Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion. This cream is dermatologist recommend and contains oatmeal and emollients to provide 24 hours of moisture. I already use many Aveeno products and I like this brand because it is usually very gentle on my skin and great quality. This sample of cream is very tiny and if I tried to use it as a body cream it would probably only be enough for one application. It is however convenient to pop into your purse and use as a hand cream.

The only full size product in the box was this bellapierre eye shadow in the color Tin Man. This shade is a lovely silver which I used in my New Years Eve makeup tutorial. It is a loose shadow that comes with a sifter top and it is very pigmented and blends easily. In the photo below I did not use a primer and the shadow adhered well to the skin and looks great. This was my favorite item in the box.

The last item is this pack of makeup remover pads by Every Beauty which is another brand I had not previously tried. I like that these sheets are 100% natural, suitable for all skin types and contains argan oil extract. They come dry and you are suppose to wet them with a few drops of water before use but I found that I needed a lot more than a few drops to use them. These pads are also alcohol and paraben free and I like that they are non-drying but the individual pads are way to small to remove all of my makeup in one go. These pads were not very effective, they did not remove my eye makeup and I had a difficult time trying to remove my foundation with them. I actually needed to use one of my regular makeup wipes after I used these.

Overall I think the box is okay. If you are someone who hasn't tried many different beauty products and you are looking to experiment and find new brands then this box may be a great option for just $12. I personally like receiving samples and when I find a good product I often buy the full size. I think this box had a good mix of different types of beauty products but some items are quite small.
