Vasanti Cosmetics Locked In Liquid Lipstick – Review & Swatches

When the mailman delivered my beautiful box of Vasanti Liquid Lipsticks I knew they were going to be good but I didn’t realize they’d be this gorgeous! If you haven’t tried this brand yet, stop by Shoppers Drug Mart and start swatching (but be warned), the new colors are highly addictive!

One of the best things about Vasanti is the love that goes into each product. The creators are passionate about testing every pigment to ensure the highest quality and best results. They also cater to all complexions so women of color can find shades that make them feel sexy, empowered and beautiful (girl power!).

The packaging is sleek, simple and sophisticated but it can get a bit messy when the pigment collects heavily on the wand or under the cap. The applicator is standard but evenly distributes the color in fewer passes and helps shape the lip contour for a voluptuous pout. For more precision you can use a liner but the point is small enough to trace a neat outline.

Matte Liquid Lipsticks are my favorite because of the rich intensity they produce and this formula is ultra velvety and dramatic. The color glides on satiny-smooth and retains moisture to keep lips soft and comfortable with no flaking, caking or gathering in the corners. You get the coverage and saturation of an incredible matte pigment without dryness or chapping and the shade selection ranges from neutral to mid-tone and deep.

The lipstick holds up relatively well (about 6- 8 hours) with gradual transfer and fade but to prolong the color, simply apply one coat, allow it to dry and reinforce it with another. The supple liquid does not accentuate lines but exfoliating the night before may improve the finish.

I don’t wear neutrals very often (even though the trend is still going strong) but these colors are anything but dull and boring. The underlying tones make them flattering on all complexions and they increase in depth from light, medium and dark to suit your mood and makeup. The trick to finding a good nude is to make sure the color does not wash you out (the corpse look isn’t cute) and these shades enhance the skin while remaining very basic.

Date Night, Infatuated and Lust at First Sight are in the pink and burgundy spectrum. They are vivid and seductive without being too bright or harsh and the mild fruit scent smells delicious! These particular shades are my go-to for an evening out and the names are super cute!

The vegan formula is also cruelty and paraben free and the lipsticks retail for $23.00 each at Shoppers Drug Mart and online at vasanticosmetics.ca.

Vasanti Cosmetics See The Light Powder Highlighter Duo & Best Balm Forever (BFF) Tinted Lip Balm: Review & Swatches

Another hectic week is winding down and I’m ready to have some fun this weekend! Although the weather is still cold and dreary, a boost of radiance and a pop of fun color can enhance a dull complexion and perk-up your entire look.

When icy winter wind dries out the skin, heavy matte lipstick or lacquer may not be the most comfortable option. The BFF Tinted Balms are available in a range of flattering lust-worthy hues including bright spring tones and deep trendy stains. The gentle formula is also paraben-free and vegan with stylish packaging and elegant mandala floral prints on the application surface and outer tube.

The rich, nourishing formula is infused with Mango Seed Butter, Shea Butter and Abyssinian Oil which form a protective barrier by locking in moisture, repairing, healing, softening and smoothing so lips appear youthful and healthy.

Although these balms provide semi-sheer, creamy color the pigmentation is still vivid and buildable for medium color payoff and a beautiful, plush tint. I love the delicious scent and the supple texture conditions, hydrates and soothes parched skin. The balms glide on effortlessly and drench lips in lush, comfortable color that looks ravishing on all complexions. They retail for $22.00 each.

A good highlighter can make the skin look lustrous and healthy no matter how tired and stressed you are. These dazzling duos provide a soft, pearlescent glow with versatile coverage suitable for a day at the office or red carpet glam. The light silky texture (void of heavy glittery) seems to illuminate from within for a natural candlelight effect that looks amazing.

Golden Child features champagne and gold pigments that can be layered individually or mixed.

Angel includes silver/champagne and rose gold which capture and reflect light.

Swatches from left to right: Wine?, Bestie, Pinki Swear, Girl Talk and highlighters

The highlighter duos retail for $29.00 each. Vasanti Cosmetics can be found at Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Pharma Plus and online at vasanticosmetics.combirchbox.com and amazon.com.

Vasanti Synchronicity Eye Shadow Trio Kit: Review & Swatches

I’ve been a fan of Vasanti's lipsticks and skincare for years so when I saw the new Synchronicity Palettes I just had to have them! These glamorous all-in-one kits come with everything you need to create stunning eye looks including a trendy eye shadow trio, full-size angled brush, false lashes and glue.

The kits come packaged in stylish magnetic boxes that are great for storage, travel and gifting.

The flattering pigments create a variety of lust-worthy looks from soft and elegant to dramatic and sexy.

Each shadow palette contains 3 rich metallic hues made with wet powder-vacuum technology to ensure professional quality, intense pigmentation, blendability and silkiness.

Inevitable features majestic metals in champagne gold, rich copper bronze and antique bronze. These dazzling shades have a high-impact shimmery finish with lots of eye-catching sparkle. Because the luxurious formula is velvety and smooth, the micro-fine glitter suspended within the color applies consistently which reduces fall-out and scattering when swiped on evenly. When layered well the shadows are highly saturated and using a good primer improves adhesion and longevity.

The bronzy-golden hues compliment all skin tones and although the palettes lack a matte crease shadow for sculpting, the colors are expertly matched. The angled brush is great for blending but the fluffy bristles don’t pick up enough pigment for full coverage lid application and tends to disperse the color thinly. I use a flat shadow brush for best results and dampening the bristles improves transfer and concentration.

Serendipity is my favorite palette because I love the antique plum with garnet undertone and it looks lovely against the metallic rose and pink champagne. The middle pink is the only shadow that has sheer pigmentation and minimum buildability so I usually blend it out for a softer effect.

Destiny contains cool neutral tones that are eye-catching and radiant. The gold-vanilla, holographic taupe and antique gunmetal are ideal for day wear and you can always transition the look for a night out by deepening the crease and adding falsies.

The voluminous lashes accentuates the shadows for a seductive look.

The gold and champagne pigments in any of these palettes can also be used to highlight the face. When blended well the shimmer spreads into a sheer, glittery layer creating a luminous glow.

The Synchronicity Palettes retail for $57.00 each at Shoppers Drug Mart, Rexall, Pharma Plus and online at vasanticosmetics.com, birchbox.com and amazon.com.

Vasanti Love Brights Gel Matte Lipstick Review

In honor of rich, vivacious fall color, I’ve decided to revisit some of my favorite products from Vasanti Cosmetics. If you haven’t tried the extraordinary Love Brights Lipsticks yet, you are missing out on some serious gorgeousness and although these shades inspire me to create stunning autumn looks, their vibrant beauty transcends seasonal trends for sensational lips all year round!

First let’s talk about the unique bullet design that covers more surface in a single swipe for enhanced application. The broader shape feels more efficient and the tip helps outline and define. Although the finish is matte (void of any slickness), the formula is enriched with nourishing mango butter, pomegranate seed oil, evening primrose and sweet cherry seed oil for lightweight comfort and supple moisture.

The shades in this collection are phenomenal and because of the lush texture they do not cause dryness or chapping. The creamy consistency glides on smooth and velvety with the ability to layer and intensify beautifully without feathering. Pigmentation wise, the lipsticks are expertly saturated, full-coverage and pure plus the range has something to compliment every style, preference and skin tone.

For a creamy-matte formulation the longevity is quite impressive and the color seems to cling well for less transfer and more fade-resistance. I’ve been using these lipsticks for years now and although they do last quite a while, you should probably use them up or replace your favorites within a year to a year and a half as the scent does change.

Mad Love is my personal fave and I can't seem to get enough of this flattering plum-purple!

This shade called - The Big Time, is from the Time After Time Collection. It provides sheer to medium coverage with a hint of shine and although the color is not as solid or opaque as the Love Brights, the pretty wine-berry hue makes lips look voluptuous.

I’ve been rocking dark, vampy lips recently and Drunk in Love is a swoon-worthy rich burgundy that spices up your look with a seductive flare!

Endless Love is a classic matte red with the right balance of bright and deep tones to create a signature shade. Since there are no harsh blue or orange undertones anyone can pull this off and look totally glam.

Crazy in Love is a Hot Pink which adds a refreshing burst of color on dreary days and instantly rejuvenates the complexion with its bold brightness.

The quality of these lipsticks is high-end and impressive yet they won’t break the bank at just $19.00 each and something about the shade selection is very sophisticated.

Vasanti Power Oils Lip Gloss, Matte Crush Lip Pencils & Mineral Bronzer Review

It’s been a while since I've tried anything new from Vasanti Cosmetics but I’m a huge fan of the Love Brights Lipstick and recently the brand has been cooking up a vibrant collection of oil infused lip gloss with supple conditioning agents to enhance and soften your pout.

From nudes, dazzling pink, bright coral, rich reds, plum and lilac, there is something for everyone and when you crave moisturizing, trendy color, these are a great, lightweight option!

The packaging is simple yet sleek and being able to see the color through the tubes makes it easy to grab your favorites in a hurry. The hues I have are: Goddess - a deep plum wine with a vampy twist, Big Sis - nude/beige pink and Rani (which means queen in Hindi) - a rose mauve that looks great on every complexion.

Each pretty gloss is infused with nourishing natural oils including: Raspberry Oil (to smooth and improve elasticity), Peach Kernel Oil (rich in vitamins, fatty acids and antioxidants), Pomegranate Oil (to heal dry, chapped skin) and Jojoba (to hydrate). These rich, scintillating oils smell delicious and the lush formula drenches lips in creamy color that protects, softens and locks in moisture.

The applicator is standard yet effective for effortlessly sweeping on color.

If you’re thinking that these are just your average, run-of-the-mill lip gloss with sheer, flat color then think again! They pack a punch of vivid pigment that can be enhanced to medium coverage for unexpected intensity and a high-shine mirrored finish that makes lips appear full and juicy. With a couple layers you can achieve a gorgeous wash of color with the boldness of a lip cream and the cushiony comfort of an oil treatment. They retail for $22.00 each.

The Mineral Bronzers are perfect for getting your summer glow on and embracing that warm sunkissed look. They are available in three pretty colors: Sunkissed (light golden bronze), Brazilian Tan (medium bronze) and the hue I have - Sun Peach Glow. The gold and tan may provide a nice bronzing effect but the orange-coral is really more of a bright, skin enhancing blush. The design is eye catching and the silky pigment provides long lasting lightweight coverage that blends beautifully and brightens dull skin without any sparkle or shimmer. It retails for $29.00.

If you love a good lip pencil for defining your pout, the new Matte Crush Collection includes 4 trendy, everyday shades that provide saturated, velvety color. The formula glides on effortlessly and bathes lips in creamy moisture that lasts for hours! These mattes are soft, easy to apply and full coverage plus they make fabulous lip liners to accentuate and contour for a voluminous finish.

Since the formula is true matte the pencils are void of shine or sheen but they feel comfortable and wear away into a beautiful faded stain. As far as amazing pencils go, you can’t get much better than these and they tend not to dry out in the packaging or on the lips. The only downside is that they aren’t twist-ups but each pencil does come with it's own sharpener. They retail for $23.00 each.

Vasanti Cosmetics are sold online at vasanti.com, birchbox.com, amazon.com and at select Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Canada.
