Avon True Color Nourishing Lipstick Review | NEW Shades

Over the years I’ve accumulated a lot of Avon lipsticks and I love giving them as gifts. This beautiful collection has something for all ages, seasons and occasions no matter what your style.

Most ladies in my family have already found their signature shade (mine is Hot Plum) and for just $10.00 each, you can experiment with trendy color that keeps your lips in tip-top shape.

Avon has recently released 12 addictive new shades that range from deep burgundy, berry, magenta, bright coral, rose, bombshell red and nude. The undertones are beautifully balanced to compliment a wide variety of skin tones and the formula is infused with jojoba oil and marine collagen to plump, soften and smooth fine lines.

Because the texture is so satiny, the pigments glide on effortlessly with a pop of voluptuous shine. Even when my lips feel dry, chapped and in no mood for lipstick, the supple color drenches my pout in luscious moisture that alleviates discomfort.

In the red and burgundy zone (from left to right) you have: Red Delicious, Black Cherry, Cognac Riche and Blood Orange. These pretty hues remind me of autumn and they are great for everyday wear.

Application is ridiculously easy (it literally takes seconds), but if you crave definition, Avon also makes creamy lip liners ($9.00 ea) that prevent feathering and prolong wear.

The pink - plum spectrum is my personal fave.

Fresh Fig, Dragon Fruit Blush and Concord Grape.

Saturation is versatile, vibrant and buildable (sheer to medium coverage) but like most glossy finishes, the color transfers easily. I usually reapply a few times throughout the day (depending on how much I eat or drink) but each coat makes my pout feel plush and healthy – similar to a healing lip balm.

If you’re going for a fresh-faced look, try Toasted Cashew or Raspberry Rose.

The spreadable consistency makes it easy to mix and match. Layer your favorite bright with your favorite medium or deep tone and see what custom color you create!

Feeling the spring vibes? Brighten your complexion with Persimmon Pink. Some shades leave behind a pretty stain that can be removed with a good cleanser.

Avon Extra Lasting Lipstick Review

Avon is an expert when it comes to creating gorgeous lip color but with all the new collections being released it’s easy to overlook the classics. The Extra Long Lasting Lipsticks have been around for a while but recently these radiant beauties haven’t received the recognition they deserve.

I’ve come across these lipsticks on the website many times so I was excited to finally test them out. The packaging may not be as glamorous as the edgier collections but you can never go wrong with simple elegance and color selection is stunning! When it comes to no fuss, easy application these lipsticks don’t disappoint. The luscious formula has excellent silky glide to coat lips in a few quick swipes and the texture feels more like a silky gloss with a bit of slip for comfort.

The color payoff is sheer to medium with nice vividness and no weight. Because of the glossier, satin texture the pigments aren’t particularly pure or rich but layering enhances the intensity and improves consistency. Online it says “enjoy 24 hours of comfortable wear” but not many products on the market actually hold up that long. Allowing the color to set improves adhesion and reduces transfer for a few hours of wear but you do have to reapply throughout the day.

Most of the shades in this range are flattering on all skin tones and if you look closely at the lipsticks below, you can see the beautiful marbling and unique multi-tone effect. These dimensional hues have a frosty finish and dazzling sheen to emphasise your pout.

Left to right: Stay Put Plum, Mauve Ice, Enduring Wine and Forever Fuchsia

The solid hues are more opaque thus providing more coverage. I chose Endless Red, Forever Burgundy and Neverending Merlot. The infusion of vitamin E and wheat protein provides supple hydration so lips feel smooth, soft and nourished.

The lipsticks retail for $12.00 each at avon.ca or through independent consultants

essence Cosmetics: Lipstick Review

Since reviewing the fabulous Long-Lasting Lipsticks by essence Cosmetics they have become some of my favorite affordable lip products. Today I will be featuring the regular line of lipsticks which are available in a variety of unique, funky shades!

The lipsticks retail for just $2.99 each and there are 13 shades with glitter and glossy finishes. Compared to the Long-Lasting lipsticks these have less pigmentation, provide light to medium coverage and more shine. They are ideal for those who prefer light glossy textures and the slick formula glides on smoothly and keeps lips hydrated. I also like that they don't enhance chapped peeling lips by settling into the texture of skin.

12 Sparkling Miracle

This pink/plum is one of my favorites and as the name indicates it does contain hints of sparkle. I tend to avoid lipsticks with embedded glitter but because of the glossy texture and subtle shimmer it works!

44 Almost Famous

I love a great red lipstick and at first glance this shade appears saturated and bold but it has medium coverage with a texture that is somewhere between lipstick, balm and gloss. It is also light-weight and non-drying, perfect for those who seek the glamorous effect of a red lipstick without heavy pigmentation.

60 Cutie Mac Cute

Cutie mac Cute is like nothing I have in my collection thus far. It shows up as frosty silver, not the easiest color for me to pull-off but when applied on top of another shade it may work as a highlight for a duo-tone effect.
59 Funky Funky

If you like lip gloss, sparkles and purple then this is the lipstick for you! The purple pigment doesn't always apply evenly and the color is quite sheer but I think the effect is quite pretty.

Although I prefer the formula and finish of the Long-Lasting Lipsticks some of these shades are very nice and I frequently use them in replace of sheer gloss. You can check out the rest of the line by clicking HERE.
essence Glossy Lip Balms

Along with wonderful lipsticks essence also came out with new glossy lip balms! The balms come in some of the most delicious flavors including: cherry brownie, strawberry cheesecake, mint drop, mango ice cream and berry cupcake. If the names alone don't make you hunger for dessert the scents will entice you for sure! The gloss is non-sticky and makes lips shine with juicy color. Essence Cosmetics is sold at Shoppers Drug Mart

essence Cosmetics Long-Lasting Lipstick Review

Sometimes it can be difficult to find good quality makeup at affordable prices. Shoppers Drug Mart is Canada's largest drugstore chain and many evenings I find myself roaming their isles to see what’s new in the world of beauty. Shoppers has a hidden gem that is not always easy to locate. Sometimes the display is nestled at the end of an isle, a few over from the makeup section but if you haven’t located essence cosmetics at your local Shoppers or Ulta Beauty (for all you Americans) I recommend doing so. Every time I'm in store I head straight for the essence display to see what’s new and I have purchased quite a bit from this brand since they first launched.

essence offers good quality cosmetics at incredibly affordable prices with items ranging from just $1.49 to $4.99. I have found some excellent items rummaging through the display.

Today I am going to review the essence long-lasting lipsticks available in 13 beautiful shades.

Available shades:

The lipsticks retail for just $2.99 each and have great pigmentation! The formula is creamy and glides on velvety smooth with a shiny finish. I like that they provide long-lasting hydration and contain castor seed oil to keep lips chap-free and supple. The packaging is simple yet chic and the texture and ease of application reminds me of the popular lipsticks by NYX. These gorgeous shades look and feel great on the lips so it is no wonder I have become a little obsessed!

The shades I have are:

Dare to be Nude

I don't wear much nude lipstick but this one is pretty! This shade is fantastic paired with bright eye shadows to tone down or balance a look. The color doesn't settle into creases or accentuate dryness.

On the Catwalk

On the Catwalk is a rich, red/berry hue that provides the allure of a red lipstick without harsh blue or orange undertones. I think this color is suitable for most skin tones from fair to deep and can transition from day to evening.
Wear Berries!

This is my favorite shade in the bunch! Wear Berries is a pink lipstick with purple undertones. I plan to wear this color throughout summer and right into fall!

Coral has been a popular summer trend for years! This soft orange coral looks wonderful on warm, sunny days.

Barely There is a darker nude with a hint of purple.

Every woman should own a stunning red lipstick and this shade is glamours, bright and light-weight.

Blush my Lips is a deep fuchsia.
