Avon Organizational Caddy

I didn't plan to review the new Organizational Caddy from Avon because I’m swamped with work and in the midst of planning a trip but I like it so much that I just had to share! One perk of being a Beauty Editor is getting to try amazing products weeks before they are released to the public but I’m gradually running out of storage and space! When you have no place for more large furniture and every drawer is busting at the seam, it forces you to get a little creative.

What I love about this collapsible caddy is that you can create up to 4 compartments to customize your functional requirements and although it looks small it actually holds a lot of product. I can fit up to 66 lipsticks in here and there are even elastic loop dividers for storing brushes and liner. I also like that I can stand my lipsticks up in an orderly fashion to easily locate specific shades plus the entire box folds flat for storage and fits in the palm of your hand!

When I receive new lipsticks I pop them all in here (grouped by brand) and leave the caddy atop my vanity until I've tried them all. This way the new colors don't get lost in my collection... never to be seen or heard from again.

Makeup Artists can pop this organizer in a tote and take it on jobs to create a neat, professional display and in school lockers or work desks use it to keep stationary in order. You can fit a few in your bathroom drawers or vanity table (depending on the drawer size) and store nail polish, skincare, blush or whatever you like! Why not pack it in your suitcase to organize all your toiletries and beauty necessities at the hotel or beautifully display your perfumes.

The caddy is available at avon.ca or order through independent consultants. It retails for $20.00

Makeup Storage and Organization

Today I thought I would share some makeup storage and organization ideas since these posts seem to be quite helpful. I like staying organized and knowing where things are so last Christmas Eve I was given a new vanity table for my birthday to match my bedroom furniture and I went to work re-arranging my makeup station. My vanity is medium size and although beautiful it is still rather small for the size of my collection. I ordered and made some new storage containers and got rid of makeup that was old and no longer being used.

Vanity Table
This is the vanity table I have, I still store some of my beauty items elsewhere but I use this to store the items I use regularly.

This vanity is very cute but the drawers are rather shallow so additional storage may be necessary. Although it was a gift from my sister I know shipping to Canada was quite expensive and the box was rather heavy. When it arrived there were some imperfections in the construction of the drawers and slight scratches on the wood, presumably from packaging and shipping but it was quite easy to assemble. It comes with a large mirror, 2 side mirrors and a sturdy stool that slips under to conserve space. It may need a glass top since it scratches quite easy but it looks trendy in a bedroom and also comes in white and brown wood. Overall I am quite happy with it.

Acrylic Storage
First up, storage drawers! I purchased these Muji acrylic 5 drawer organizers for $27.95 each, which is a great price compared to other acrylic storage. You can also stack them on top of each other as I have done to conserve space. The drawers are a bit smaller than I anticipated but they are sturdy, great quality and look stylish on a vanity or bathroom counter.

The shipping from the U.S. store to Canada was incredibly fast, I received my package in 4 days! Shipping was $29 dollars via Fed Ex but I was impressed with how well they were wrapped to prevent damage and they came pre-assembled. If you live in the United States you will probably get a better rate on shipping.

When they arrived the drawers did smell a bit weird but they are easy to clean and will air out. I also like that they pull all the way out for easy access. The website also offers varying sizes (3 drawer organizers) if you need deeper drawers. I will probably need to buy a few more soon.

It would be too extensive to go through my entire makeup collection but below are just a few examples of the type of makeup that can fit in these drawers:

The drawers are great for storing loose eye shadows and smaller eye shadow palettes.

Lip gloss fits neatly, you can see all the colors and are more likely to use them! You can also store lipsticks.

Its also great for storing lip treatments, balms and tubes.

The drawers also fit single blushes in varying sizes or blush palettes, compacts, mascaras etc.

There were some items that did not fit in the drawers such as thicker compacts and jars and there isn't much room for stacking items on top of each other but overall I am satisfied with these organizers.

Lipsticks
I have mentioned these lipstick holders in numerous posts so I will quickly go over them. These acrylic lipstick containers are my favorite way to organize my obsession for lipstick. I purchased the larger ones at Winners in the home decor section (you can also check Marshalls) they were about $12 each. I found the smaller ones at a local store for $2 each! You can also find these on Ebay, Amazon or other online retailers. Since these organizers take up space on my vanity I had to find alternative storage options for the rest of my lipstick collection which I store elsewhere.

Palettes
For palettes I use the Muji drawers and the vanity drawers but for larger palettes I use file folder organizers to conserve space. You can get these at office supply stores and the palettes slip right into the slots for tidy storage.

Makeup brushes
Like many people I decided to make my own brush holders. I purchased these square glass vases at the Dollar Store (Dollarama) for 2 each as well as the acrylic beads used to fill them, which were $1 per bag! This is an affordable yet pretty way to store brushes.

Everyday Skin Care Items
I use an acrylic makeup caddy to organize the skin care items I use on a daily basis. The rest of my skin care items are kept in a built in shelving unit and in my bathroom and bedroom cupboards. I also use this to store foundations and setting sprays and it sits right on top of the Muji drawers. I got this caddy at Walmart for about $10 and it holds quite a lot!

Vanity Mirror
I found this mirror at HomeSense for just $16.99. Aquatico vanity mirrors retail for up to $80 so this was a steal! One side is magnified 5x and it has nice crystal detailing. When looking for a mirror make sure to consider the height you need, you want to be able to see into it without having to stoop down or peer up. Also make sure that the base is lined in good fabric to protect your tabletop.

Extra storage
I also use my train case to store other makeup items and I keep that under my table.

So this is how I organize some of my everyday makeup items. If you have any questions leave them down below and let me know how you keep organized.

Make-Up-Matte Review

Today am reviewing a handy little product for those who liked to keep organized in midst of an insatiable love for makeup. Usually when I leave my house I take some makeup with me; whether it is powder for quick touch-ups or a few of my favorite lipsticks, I always have a small collection of must-haves floating around in my bag.

The Make-Up-Matte is a cute, functional makeup station that you can take with you on the go! It can accommodate a wide range of beauty products and makeup brushes.

For Travel
You can use the Make-Up-Matte almost anywhere! I love that you can shove all your essentials into it, fold it up and put it in a travel bag or purse. It is great for vacations and weekend getaways because it acts as a cosmetic organizer and holder and then when you arrive at your destination you just unroll it and use it as a makeup station! When I travel as I do often, not all hotel rooms have areas where I can comfortably apply my makeup; sometimes I find myself heading wherever the natural light source is so that I can actually see what I’m doing. Often times I end up sitting on the hotel bed, near a window or at a desk, so this matte is ideal for me because I can spread it out and not mess up the sheets or surfaces.

Aside from makeup you can also transport your travel essentials in it like creams, hair brushes, perfumes, toiletries and other personal items.

I also like using the matte on my vanity. No one wants to get eye shadow and makeup residue on their nice table, so I spread out the matte and do my makeup right on top of it. The Make-Up-Matte is  machine washable, helps contain any mess and cuts down on cleanup especially with mineral makeup.

This matte is great for use at the gym and you can also use it in your bathroom, in the car (not while you are driving of course) and anywhere else you do your makeup. For those of you who have hectic mornings and find yourself scrambling to get to work you can easily slip all of your essentials into the matte and then unroll it right onto your desk when you arrive at the office.

Unlike traditional brush rolls which only transports brushes and are not nearly as cute as these designs, this matte has a variety of pocket sizes ranging from small to large so that you can fit in brushes as well as palettes, blush, lipsticks compacts and much more. I also like that the pockets are soft and flexible allowing me to put a few eye shadow brushes into each individual slot. The matte also comes with a band that secures all your makeup inside once you have it all rolled up.

Designs
I got my matte in animal print but The Make-Up-Matte also comes in many beautiful designs, colors and patterns and it looks quite trendy while on the go. I also like that this product is soft on the inside, good quality and made from good material. Some of the mattes even come with matching headbands so that you can keep your hair back and out of the way while washing your face or applying makeup.

Other uses for the Make-Up-Matte

You can also use the Make-Up-Matte for packing and transporting skin care essentials like skin cleansing brushes, bottles of lotions, serums and toners.

For the nail polish lovers out there this matte can also work for carrying nail polish, files and nail accessories.

I would even use this product to store and carry my jewelry during travel because of the soft microfiber lining (as seen in the photo below).

The Make-Up-Matte sells for $22.95 and you can order it from the website HERE
