Simple Everyday Makeup

It's nice to experiment with colorful makeup and create interesting looks but I don't always have time for that. When I have to be out of my house fast and I still want to look decent I usually use colors that can stand on their own without much blending or crease work. I also opt for colors that compliment my skin tone and can be matched with just about any shade of blush or lipstick. Its nice to have a few signature looks that you can recreate without much time or effort so you can get on with your day and still look great.

Below is one of the looks I wear when I'm short on time, its simple and quick.

EYES:
For my lids I used silver. I started with the color Verve from the Naked 2 palette and added a brighter silver on top called Chrome from Silk Naturals. You can use whatever silver you have. In the crease I used a purple/brown shade from my Born Pretty Sweety shadow and blush palette, you can use brown, mauve purple or even black. I blended the crease out towards the brow bone with the color Foxy from the Naked 2 palette and lined my lids with the Cailyn gel liner.

FACE:
For my face I used the Clarins illuminating base to even and prime and then I used my everyday foundation MAC Studio Fix and the MAC Pro Long Wear concealer. I finished it up with some pink blush, and set everything with my Ben Nye banana powder.

LIPS:
For my lips I could have went with a variety of colors but I decided to keep it a bit glamorous with classic red lipstick from Kiss New York. This shade is called Flirt Alert.

What look do your rock when you are short on time?

Peacock Eye Makeup

photo from: commons.wikimedia.org
In the past I have found inspiration in some odd things that have inspired many different makeup looks. One look I have tried in the past was inspired by the beautiful colors of a peacock feather. The old look I created however lacked the bold combination of  colors so I have re-created the look.

I know this is not makeup that you would wear to work or out to the grocery store but sometimes I like to create looks that are creative. I like to blend shades and to utilize the bold colors in my makeup palettes that people tend to steer away from.

Inglot
Coastal Scents
To achieve this look I used  the above palettes and 6 different colors ranging from purple, light purple, dark green, light green, aqua blue and dark blue.

Where do you get your makeup inspiration?

Pink Smokey Eye Makeup

Hi everyone,
I haven't done an eye shadow look in a while so I thought I would do something bright, bold and dramatic. To get this look I used my Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer palette

Naked 2 palette
This look is quite simple to do, but you have to make sure to blend the colors together very well.
Below are directions for anyone who wants to try this look.

Directions:
1. Prime your lids right up to your brows with the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Make sure you prime under your lower lash line as you will be applying eye makeup there.

2. Using a flat eye shadow brush pat a combination of the red color and the pink color indicated from the Coastal Scents palette above all over your eyelids.

3. Using a blending brush take the red color you used on your lids and blend it into the crease and outer V. When applying the shadow into your outer V area make sure you get a clean sharp angle. I used a business card against my skin and lined the angle of the card  from the very corner of my eyes to the tip of where my eyebrows end to create the V shape while blending.

4. Using the color Black Out in the Naked 2 Palette and using the business card trick again darken up the outer V areas.

5. Make your outer V area the darkest area. As you blend in towards your inner tear ducts use less black as you go to create a faded out look in your crease.

6. Above the outer V and your crease take some of the red color and lightly blend it above the black. Make sure you apply the shadow heaviest on your outer V and then lighter as you go towards your inner tear duct.

7. Under your brows apply the color Foxy from the Naked 2 palette for a matte highlight.

8. Line your upper lids with a black liquid liner, I used the Wet n Wild liquid liner.

9. Line your lower lash lines with a black pencil. I used the Revlon Color Stay pencil liner.

10. Apply the dark pink shadow under your lower lash lines and around your inner tear ducts.

And that is it, your look is complete. If you have any questions don't hesitate to leave them in the comments section below.

Summer Sunset Inspired Eye Shadow: Highlighting & Warm Foundation

I decided to so something inspired by the beautiful colors in a summer sunset on a warm night because I love how the colors blend together in the sky. I used deep orange, deep red and corals. I also used pinks and a bit of silver to tie everything together. For this look I used my Coastal Scents palette and my Inglot palette. I also used some of my e.l.f. shadows.

In total I used 9 different colors to get this effect and blended them together. I also used a warmer (darker) foundation and I tried to make sure the lighting was warm for more of a summer's evening bronzed effect instead of shooting in direct sunlight or with bright lights.

I used a lot of my Lorac Tantalizer Bronzer to give my skin a radiant glow (I did a review in a previous post about this bronzer).

Coral and Gold Eye Shadow Using Inglot Shadows

I love this coral color in my Inglot palette. It isn't quite like any other color I have in my shadow collection. It is by far my favorite color in the palette.
I combined the coral tone #336 with the gold color from my Naked 2 palette called Half Baked (second color from the left below)
This look was super easy to do but I love how the colors compliment each other.

I realized that when I posted the Inglot palette in my previous haul I did not let everyone know what the colors are, so they are posted below in case you are interested in getting any of these shades.

Purple #439
Teal green #372
Sky blue #371
Orange coral #366
Sparkly orange #51

Purple and Blue eye shadow

Hi everyone,
I decided to experiment with purple and blue eye shadows from my Coastal Scents palette. I have to admit, blue eye shadow is not a color I often wear because I associate it with bright pink lipstick and old tie dye jeans back from when I was a baby and people's style was a bit...shall we say different.

I decided to be brave and use some of the blue shades in the palette and I have to say I like how the colors look.

To get this look I used:

*My Coastal Scents 88 Shimmer palette

*I used the same outer V color on the outer 2/3 below my waterline
*I used the same inner eyelid color to highlight my inner tear duct

Purple and pink eye shadow

This eye makeup consists of vibrant pink and purple shadow.  When I went to a convention show with my mom I got a lot of questions about my eye shadow so I decided to post the look.

To get this look I used:
*Coastal Scents 88 Simmer palette

Both of these loose eye shadows are by Faces.

Yellow and green makeup look

I decided to try out a vibrant yellow cream eye shadow that I got from Hard Candy the other day. I really like yellow and green together so this is what I came up with.

To get this look I used
*Urban decay primer potion all over my lids
*I used my Costal Scents 88 shimmer palette for most of the eye shadow

*On my inner eyelid area I used this yellow cream eye shadow by Hard Candy called Midas Touch

*Under my outer waterline I used this green eye shadow and liner pencil by Ruby Kisses

*On my inner tear duct area I used my Faces sparkle dust as a highlight
*To line my top lid I used the black cream eyeliner by e.l.f.
*To line my bottom waterline I used the black colorstay eyeliner by Revlon.
