Aveeno Positively Radiant MaxGlow Skincare Review

The city of Toronto has issued an extreme cold warning for tonight and snow is in the forecast. Temperatures have fluctuated between unseasonably warm and downright frigid. When you combine indoor heating with cold wind and dry air you get a recipe for dull, dehydrated skin.

Many people are recovering from cold and flu season while juggling a hectic schedule so today I’m reviewing a few products that will fit into your daily routine and protect your skin from winter’s wrath.

Aveeno’s Positively Radiant Collection is formulated with natural soy used in traditional Chinese medicine. It is rich in proteins, lipids and vitamins that even skin tone, enhance your natural glow, hydrate, smooth, nourish, protect and improve the look of dark spots and blemishes.

These products are paraben-free, Dermatologist recommended, non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic and phthalate free.

Before I get into face care I want to share a few body products that moisturize, soothe and soften from head-to-toe. Aveeno makes some of the best shower gel for sensitive skin and the Yogurt formula ($7.47 - $11.99) gently cleanses with a rich creamy lather infused with oat. The Vanilla scent smells amazing and Apricot Honey renews dry, flaky skin.

After enjoying a relaxing shower, slather on The Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Yogurt ($9.49 - $13.99). The lush formula absorbs quickly with no greasiness so skin feels supple, hydrated, smooth and healthy. These jars are convenient for travel because they don’t spill and the lightweight finish is also great for warm climates.

The MaxGlow Micellar Gel Cleanser ($12.99 - $14.99) works like a magnet to draw out impurities and wash away makeup, oil, dirt and bacteria. I love the milky lather, mild fragrance and frothy bubbles. It works wonders on a cleansing brush and never leaves my skin tight or dry.

The MaxGlow Peel Off ($12.97 - $14.99) exfoliates, smooths, brightens and extracts impurities while locking in moisture. The formula contains kiwi extract and alpha hydroxyl acid to rejuvenate and brighten. Apply a generous amount to coat your face evenly and wait until the gel is completely dry (about 20 minutes). Peeling it off is not painful and my complexion looks clear and refreshed after each treatment.

Before bed apply the MaxGlow No-Mess Sleep Mask ($24.99 - $32.99) to revive and invigorate dull skin. Use the paddle to spread and blend the hydrating formula. As you get your beauty rest, the cream forms a supple, moisturizing layer that rejuvenates and corrects. In the morning my face looks luminous, plump and youthful – great way to start the day.

The MaxGlow Infusion Drops ($24.99 - $32.99) can be used morning and night but it works wonders under makeup and mixed into moisturizer. The effects last up to 48 hours with a glowing sheen and no greasiness. You’ll love how soft, dewy and even your skin appears with or without foundation.

Before I head out for the day, I usually apply serum, moisturizer and primer but with the MaxGlow Serum + Primer ($24.99 - $32.99) you only need one step. The finish is very similar to the Infusion Drops (you don’t need both) and it efficiently smooths and preps the skin to create a bright, even canvass.

Aveeno Hair Care Collection Inspired by Farm Fresh Ingredients: Almond Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar and Oat Milk Blend

Most of you know that I love Aveeno body products! Their luscious shower gels are to die for and the moisturizing body creams are gentle on sensitive skin.

The brand’s newest beauty trend is a fragrant farm fresh collection inspired by natural ingredients. There are no sulfates, dyes, or parabens and the replenishing formulas target all hair types including: dry, thin, sensitive, color treated, dull, limp and lifeless.

The first Collection I chose to test is the Almond Oil Blend for deep hydration and soft frizz-free strands. This range also contains avocado oil which is high in omega 3 fatty acids that nourish and repair dry, damaged cuticles. The shampoo does what you’d expect - it removes dirt, sweat and excess oil so hair feels clean and smells wonderful. After lathering twice, my ends still felt a bit dry (probably because of the vacation I just returned from) but the gel, hairspray, impurities and leave-ins were thoroughly eliminated.

I have a lot of long hair so the conditioner does not provide enough slip to detangle unless I use a generous amount. When left on for a few minutes in the shower, my strands began to feel soft and manageable. It is important to comb the cream through evenly, saturate your ends and give it time to work.

If your tresses are really parched, use the Hair Mask for intense hydration. My mane usually needs a lot more than the recommended 5 minutes so I leave it on for 3-4 hours. You can also mix it with another treatment from the collection to target several problem areas at once. My hair can withstand a lot of moisture without ever feeling weighed down so sometimes I use the mask as regular conditioner.

Apple cider vinegar for hair care sounds disgusting (I can’t stand the scent) but my mom swears by it. Apparently this “super food” deep cleans like nobody’s business without stripping or damaging fragile strands.

Thankfully Aveeno’s Apple Cider products do not have a foul vinegar odor and they soothe dry scalp while boosting shine. The sweet fragrance reminds me of apple juice (it smells delicious) and the shampoo rinses away dust, grime and pollutants.

If you need a clarifying treatment to get rid of heavy build-up, the Hair Rinse thoroughly eliminates everything left clinging to your strands and clogging your follicles including dead, flaky skin. This treatment is not meant for daily or even weekly use. Apply it after shampooing only when needed to rejuvenate your scalp, roots and ends. If your hair is dry, frizzy, damaged or weak, I would refrain from using this product altogether because it may strip away too much natural sebum.

I use the rinse when I haven’t washed my hair in a while, after a long vacation or when I slather on too much leave-in, oil, dry shampoo or serum that need to be removed efficiently.

After detoxing your strands, make sure to follow-up with lots of hydrating conditioner. It is also a good idea to use a revitalizing mask and leave it on for at least an hour.

The Oat Milk Blend is formulated for daily moisture. It is soothes dry scalp and lightly hydrates all hair types. I use it when I need to wash my hair more frequently, usually when I’m on a workout program where I have to remove perspiration without causing brittleness.

The shampoo is average. It cleanses well without making my hair feel rough but I prefer to co-wash with the conditioner to retain some natural oil. I work the cream through my roots (massaging well), saturate my ends, detangle and rinse.

When I’m rocking my natural curls the Oat Milk Blend Leave-In Milk with hydrolyzed protein helps balance, strengthen, smooth and protect. The added moisture keeps my tresses frizz-free and bouncy without stiffness or static and it smells fantastic.

The Oat Milk Overnight Mask is a cool new concept. I’ve never left a conditioner on for 6-8 hours before but I need all the moisture I can get!

The mask is bit tricky to sleep in (depending on how much you use). If you apply it sparingly and braid your hair, chances are it won’t get all over your pillow. I decided to drench my entire head (don’t laugh) so I had to wrap my hair in a bun and sleep in a silk scarf to prevent transfer. In the morning I rinsed it out and my curls were soft, shiny and super sleek! This is a great idea for anyone who needs to revive dry, straggly strands and repair damage.

The entire collection is priced at $10.99 and Aveeno is available at Walmart and all major drugstores.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Body Collection

There are new brands being launched everyday but Aveeno has been part of my family’s skincare routine for generations. Their gentle oat formula is safe for my sister’s eczema and nourishes my husband’s sensitive skin with non-irritating, fragrance-free moisturizers.

For summer we all crave a luminous glow so Aveeno has created the Positively Radiant Collection with Total Soy Complex designed to target the 5 factors of radiance: tone, texture, dullness, blotchiness and brown spots.

Healthy skin starts with proper cleansing so the Exfoliating Body Wash ($11.49) gently sweeps away rough, flaky skin with a hypoallergenic, soap-free formula. The buffing particles are made with natural walnut powder and the lavish cream eliminates dirt, impurities and sunscreen with a wonderful scent. I like that it rinses clean so skin feels smooth and supple with no dryness or heavy film. Drizzle some on your shower pouf for a rich, foaming lather and let the fragrant bubbles relax you after a long day. The Body Wash ($7.99) is also available in a Daily Moisturizing Gel that deeply hydrates and replenishes parched skin.

Drench yourself in moisture with the Positively Radiant Body Lotion ($9.49). The luscious cream is lightweight and fast absorbing with no greasiness and it effectively eliminates dryness for 24 hours. I haven't noticed much improvement in radiance but my skin definitely feels soft, rejuvenated and healthy. After shaving it alleviates sensitivity and makes my legs smooth and silky – perfect for sundress weather.

I love the scent of Aveeno products but if you prefer something less noticeable, try the Fragrance-free Daily Moisturizing Lotion ($8.99) with nourishing oat formula. I usually toss the tube in my tote for weekend trips and it doubles as hand cream. The velvety texture quenches thirsty skin to abolish dry patches and discomfort.

I travel a lot so the Positively Radiant Body Cream ($9.49) with dark spot corrector is a must! This little tube is packed with tone correctors that are clinically proven to improve pigmentation in just 1 week and you can keep it in your purse, beach bag or carry-on for touch-ups on-the-go. The formula contains SPF 15 which helps protect from sunburn.

Aveeno is available nationwide at food, drug and mass merchandisers.

Aveeno Skin Relief Collection Review

Spring has officially begun and in some cities the cherry blossoms have already sprouted their pretty blossoms! We can finally shed the heavy layers, ditch those puffy jackets and show a little more skin.

Before you delve into your spring wardrobe just yet, it is a good idea to do a little winter recovery and like many of you my mission is to recuperate tired, dry skin.

Frequent traveling, events, long nights and little time to indulge in my beauty rituals has made my skin is a little lackluster. Thankfully I can always count on Aveeno to diminish the effects of my busy schedule and environmental aggressors with a blast of hydration and nutritive conditioning agents. The Skin Relief Collection is clinically proven to soothe extra dry, itchy, cracked skin with a fragrance-free gentle formula.

Aveeno has been delivering quality skincare for over 60 years and for the members of my family who suffer from sensitivity and eczema these products have been effective and reliable. The antioxidants, vitamin E, proteins and rich fatty acids provide a lush, protective barrier that lasts as long as your day does!

To battle dryness every step of your routine should support the maintenance of moisture so using a shower gel loaded with stripping detergents only makes matters worse. The Skin Relief Body Wash however is soap-free, dye-free and hypoallergenic to remove dirt and excess oil for an invigorating cleanse. The soothing oatmeal and rich emollients lock in moisture to alleviate uncomfortable itching and tightness so skin is soft, fresh and clean. I like lathering the gel into a bubbly foam on my bath puff and allowing the amazing aroma to lull me into relaxation. There is something warm and calming about the natural fragrance of this gel so it makes the perfect bedtime or morning ritual. It retails for $7.99 - $8.99.

For 24 hours of hydration the Moisturizing Lotion infused with shea butter and oatmeal provides lasting protection from dehydration. The lotion works quickly to restore lipids and the rich formula is fast absorbing and non-greasy. It works wonders on rough, flaky skin, dry elbows, ashy knees and even cracked heels for touchably soft, supple results. It also has a luscious, cooling sensation that feels amazing and leaves my entire body silky and rejuvenated. Compared to most drugstore body lotions and even some high-end creams this one ranks among the best because I see and feel immediate results that lasts all day. It is a great fortifying treatment for the winter months yet light enough to keep your skin looking healthy all summer and whether your skin is extremely dry or normal to oily it is suitable for all! (Retail price: $19.99).

The cold weather combined with frequent hand washing, drying, alcohol based sanitizers and acetone polish removers is a recipe if parched skin so my hands always need extra attention. The Aveeno Skin Relief Hand Cream is a savior for dry skin and nails plus it helps treat and improve the look of damaged cuticles! I really like that it absorbs quickly with a non-greasy formula and no stickiness so it doesn’t make my hands feel sweaty or slick. The tube is a bit bulky and not as purse friendly as I’d like but because it keeps my hands supple and mani-worthy I still slip it in larger totes for use on-the-go. The hand cream retails for $9.99.

If you crave soft, supple skin then I definitely recommend trying this collection. These products are available in drugstores nationwide and you can check out the website by clicking HERE.
