Pur Cosmetics On Point Eyeliner & Eye Polish

It’s been a while since I featured anything new from Pur but they never cease to amaze me with their vivid pigments and beautiful long-wear formulas. Today I’m revisiting the metallic Eye Polishes, a fabulous new brow cream and eyeliners that won’t smudge or run.

The Eye Polish ($28.00) is available in a range of complexion flattering shades and comes in a jar covered by thin mesh.

Application is a bit odd – you have to dip the silicone paddle onto the net screen and try to pick up some of the pretty color. The creamy part of the polish kind of sits at the bottom in a clump and doesn’t flow through the mesh very easily which makes it difficult to reach. I even tried to remove the screen with little success so I may have to cut it out. Packaging flaws aside, I actually like the pigment. It feels thin and watery because I can’t mix it properly but the color is intense and saturated. I love the flecks of glitter and it dries quickly – transforming into a light satin powder that looks radiant and lasts all day! You can dab these over your favorite shadows or layer them full-coverage for a glamorous effect.

Twist-up liners are my favorite! There is no sharpening required so you don’t end up with a wonky pencil and broken tips. The On Point Eyeliner ($19.00) is reshaped into a neat, structured point each time you recap it so you can draw straight, consistent lines that glide on effortlessly. The creamy formula is enriched with a rejuvenating Ceramide – Essential Oil Complex that nourishes and prevents lash-loss plus the dramatic color lasts up to 10 hours without fading.

I usually line my eyes with pencil and then reinforce it with the On Point Liquid Liner ($19.00) for more intensity. The flexible felt tip is easy to manoeuvre for creating the perfect wing and varying line thickness but the matte finish is a bit dull for my taste (I prefer something with a hint of shine). The color is jet black, well pigmented and infused with the same Lash Rejuvenation Complex to preserve your precious hairs.

I really wish the Sculpt a Brow ($24.00) came with instructions because the pigment is in a twist-off cap at the top of the tube and the angled brush seems too large to fit inside and extract it. I wasn’t sure if the cream was supposed to eject onto the brush or if I had to take everything apart and dip but eventually I got the hang of it. There are 3 shades available and I like that the deepest hue is dark enough to match my hair. The cream-to-powder formula has great color payoff and blends easily to fill in sparse areas, thicken shape and sculpt. I really like this product for creating Instagram-worthy arches but the packaging needs improvement and it should come with more pigment.

Last but not least is another skincare product. I know I’ve been on a skincare craze recently but this one is good! The Blue Agave Energizing Peel-Off Mask ($26.00) is enriched with green tea, ginseng, aloe, basil, fruit extract and Vitamin B to refresh, plump, hydrate, cleanse and tone. This is a great mask to apply while you’re reading or getting ready for the weekend. It softens, smooths and revives your complexion with no messy clay or hard to remove granules. Simply peel off the bright blue film and apply moisturizer.

Pur Cosmetics Vanity Palette Eyes & Cheeks

I love a full-face of makeup but I don’t always have time to spend hours blending and coordinating colors. The Pur Vanity Palettes ($49.00) were designed with your busy lifestyle in mind – combining shadow, blush, bronzer and highlighter in one chic little compact. Dream Chaser contains neutral shades for subtle day looks and for a night out, Goal Digger creates glamorous contrast.

What makes these palettes unique is that they function as mini vanities on-the-go. The mirror pops up and elevates to aide with application which is also great for vacation and quick touch-ups.

Goal digger is my favorite because the shades are rich and prominent. Although the pigments are formulated for different areas of the face, they all make great eye shadow and I like pairing the smoky plum and luminous pink blush. The pigments are smooth and well pigmented but the glitter shades (silver and deep blue) have a sheer finish that require more layering for full-coverage. The highlight adds a pop of gorgeous illumination and the bronzer is dark enough to contour and create definition.

Dream Chaser has a few warm shadows for sculpting and much lighter blush and highlight shades. There isn’t enough color variation and vibrancy in this palette to suit my style but the pigments are silky and well made – great for blending and laying.

Pur Cosmetics Chrome Glaze High Shine Lip Gloss & Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick Review

Pur Cosmetics makes gorgeous lip color and their lacquers are some of my favorite liquid lipsticks. Whether you like bold, opaque color (like me) or high-shine glossy shades, Pur has something for everyone including vivid fall hues!

For those who still dig the neutral lip trend, I chose 2 shades that are flattering on all complexions with mild undertones. Ever After (on the left) is a pretty mauve-pink with a creamy matte finish that looks great with my autumn wardrobe. The color is deep and eye-catching yet still quite tame. When you’re in the mood for a neutral gloss, Smarty Pants is a flattering, subtle pink that enhances your natural lip color with a beautiful flush.

The matte formula glides on full-coverage and smooth with a rich, mousse texture that conditions and hydrates to prevent flaking and dryness. The intense color provides hours of comfortable wear and nourishing Agave Extract helps plump and fill lines to create a flawless finish.

I like that the applicator has a pointed tip which makes shaping and defining the lip contour much easier and you can create a neat outline without lip liner.

For fall I love deep, vampy pigments. The lighter shade (on the left) is a Velvet Matte called Addiction. This gorgeous burgundy-wine will probably be one of my go-to colors next season and it looks amazing with sparkling gold shadow. The darker shade is a Chrome Glaze called Rebel. The creamy gloss provides a vibrant stain and sheer, luminous color that moisturizes and plumps. You can also wear the gloss over the matte for opaqueness and shine.

The gloss and liquid lipstick retail for $29.00 each at Shoppers Drug Mart and beautyboutique.ca

Pur Cosmetics Love Your Selfie 2 Day & Night Palette Review

It’s no secret that Pur Cosmetics has some seriously gorgeous pigments and since the selfie epidemic seems to be the way of the world, great makeup can help prefect your photos. The Selfie 2 Palette seems designed for my busy schedule because the expertly crafted shadows create effortless looks that can to go from day to night.

Along with 8 luxe eye shadows the collection also includes a universal highlighter, bronzer, baking powder (to set your look), mascara, lip pencil, gloss and large mirror - all conveniently packaged in a travel-friendly glittery case.

The shadows in the palette are flattering on all skin tones and great for everyday wear. There are 3 soft matte hues in cream, beige and pink plus 5 shimmers in gold, bronzy tones, green and iridescent garnet. Deepening the colors creates a vivid smoky effect and the pigmentation is full-coverage, buildable and blendable for incredible saturation and smooth, silky application.

Although the inclusion of a deep matte brown for crease sculpting would have made the palette more complete, the shadows are excellent quality and I have no issue with excessive fallout, or fading. They also layer incredibly well so I can glam-up my look for a night out and accentuate my eyes with the Fully Charged volumizing mascara.

The universal highlight is a soft champagne hue with peachy undertones that applies buttery smooth with no messy glitter. The illuminating shimmer is well contained and I can brush it on heavy for dramatic radiance or light for a natural glow. The velvety bronzer is medium brown and deep enough to contour. When used with the matte baking powder you can reshape, define, sculpt and transform the face.

The Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is beautiful and the creamy formula can be used to line or fill-in the lips. The chubbier shape makes it a bit difficult to sharpen but the color is very wearable.

The gloss compliments all of the pigments and hydrates with a wash of beautiful pink shine. The color payoff isn’t too sheer and can be enhance it to medium coverage for a lush, pouty effect.

This Palette is valued at $140.00 but retails for $42.00. Pur Cosmetics/Pur Minerals is available at Shoppers Drug Mart, beautyboutique.ca and purcosmetics.com.
