Lancôme French Idole Fall 2014 Collection – Review

This fall Lancôme has released a dazzling new collection that embodies the quintessence of Parisian style. While vacationing in Paris last year I gained an appreciation for these classy trends that are both modern and edgy yet chic and glamorous.

The Hypnôse Intense Smokey Palette is exactly what comes to mind when I think of rich, fall hues. The packaging itself is magnetized so you don’t have to worry about losing the applicators and you can pop it in your purse for use on the go.

The sparkling shades of amethyst, luminous greens, diamond highlight and satin purple are designed for concealment, bold pigmentation and lining the eyes. You can create fresh fall looks for daytime or use the dark shades to enhance the smokiness for a bold effect. The formula is easy to blend and build with good coverage and the texture and quality is great! The palette (Malachite Amethyste) retails for $55.00.

I have acquired a lot of nail polish in a wide array of colors and finishes but when I saw the new Vernis in Love lacquers I was impressed! These gorgeous shades are perfect for fall and are inspired by the rich hues of precious gem stones. The colors are deep and elegant with pretty iridescent shimmer.

*387 Améthyste Brun is a dark purple/pomegranate with flecks of shimmer.
*439 Topaz Rose is my favorite shade, modeled after sparkling ruby.
*197 Tourmaline Noir is a stunning midnight black with hints of silver shimmer.

I recommend using a base coat as some of the colors do tend to leave behind a slight stain and because I prefer an ultra glossy effect I used a shiny top coat. The purple shade applies darker than it appears in the bottle, with a pretty black base that looks great in sunlight.

The lacquers come with a medium sized, flat brush ideal for controlled, precise application, I was able to achieve a tidy manicure with no pooling around the cuticles or pesky air bubbles. The formula is one of the easiest I have worked with, it glides on effortlessly, coats well and dries quickly. It also has a great consistency and applies smoothly and opaque in 2-3 coats. I recommend using a good non-chip top coat to prolong the wear but the effect is superb! The lacquers retail for $18.00 each.

L’absolu Rouge Lipstick in the shade 188 Rouge Agate Sheer is suitable for most skin tones and is trendy for fall. This glistening rosy bronze has a comfortably light, nourishing formula and a touch of shine for luminosity.

Although you can apply less for a subtle look the color isn't as sheer as I expected and can be layered to increase the intensity to medium coverage. The texture is smooth and hydrating to keep lips supple and healthy without feathering. The L’asolu Rouge Lipsticks retails for $36.00.

This collection also includes Art Liners that provide 24 hours of wear and the duo brow liner and highlight. The products are available from August-October 2014, you can visit Lancôme online by clicking HERE.
