Urban Decay Game Of Thrones Collection | Review and Swatches

There are just three days left until we finally find out who takes the Iron Throne and I’m anticipating drama, suspense, violence and betrayal. The final season of Game Of Thrones airs on HBO this Sunday and fans everywhere are preparing for an epic battle. I’m hoping Daenerys and Jon will take King's Landing with Tyrion by their side but I doubt things will end so amicably.

With ice breathing dragons, White Walkers and lusty secrets yet to be exposed, this exciting tale of power, greed and love will probably conclude with a surprising twist.

Just in time for the premiere, Urban Decay has created a beautiful makeup collection inspired by our favorite characters, heroes and villains. The regal jewel-tone shimmers capture the intensity of House Lannister, Stark and Targaryen as they face the White Walkers wrath – represented by icy metallics.

The queen of this collection is definitely the keepsake pop-up book palette which features the Iron Throne and quotes from the series. It also includes 4 lipsticks inspired by our leading ladies, a soft Cheek Tint, 4 gorgeous eyeliners, 2 brushes and the Mother of Dragons Highlight Palette.

When it comes to daring shimmers, no one does it better than Urban Decay. This stunning Eye Shadow Palette ($77.00) has something for everyone – frosty silver, matte red, radiant gold, intense purple, scintillating emerald and an icy teal I’m dying to show-off.

The 4 circular shades at the bottom are holographic transformers which can be applied over the shadows to alter their color and finish for more versatility. Bay of Dragons is sheer and a tad inconsistent but the others are dense and buttery. Personally, I'd prefer two more rows of eye shadow but these modifying overlays seem to be a new trend for the brand.

The eye shadow tray slides all the way out for easy access so you can hold it like a painter’s palette while perfecting your look using the large mirror.

Most of the shades are shimmery (some more than others) but the finishes range from dramatic to neutral with rich velvety textures and bold saturation. Like most UD pigment, the quality is excellent although the glittery finishes (Dothraki and Stormborn) tend to flake and create some fallout.

Layer the shadows to enhance vividness and use UD's Primer Potion to prolong wear. I had no issue with creasing or fading and the creamy mattes blend effortlessly.

Most of the pigments standout as main lid colors so you may have to reach into your UD vault for a few supporting shades. Other than that, the selection is very flattering with a nice mix of cool and warm.

The lipstick packaging is eye-catching and elegant but the shades are quite similar to previous UD releases. The dark burgundy, shimmery red and deep gold have great color payoff with a hint of hydrating shine. Sansa Stark (peachy nude), is sheer, glossy and a bit too slick. I wish UD would formulate some creamy, full-coverage matte lipsticks with a powdery finish but these are nice.

I’m not really sure what to think of the Lip & Cheek Stain ($35.00). The pigment is liquid-y, thin and sheer - so sheer that it disappears into my skin without a trace. If I squint really hard I can make out a faint tint but I find it messy and ineffective.

If you’re planning to buy some cheek color, go for the Mother of Dragons Highlight Palette instead ($45.00). It cost just $10.00 more and you get 3 luminous shades: Drogon (frosted pink), Viserion (metallic golden nude) and Rhaegal (metallic bronze). The buildable powders are highly pigmented, smooth and brilliant for a radiant glow that catches the light.

The 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils ($26.00 ea) match the shadows to complete your eye look. They apply effortlessly without drag to create the perfect line along the top and bottom lashes. Once the color sets, it stays put all day without running or smudging. I use UD liners all the time and they even hold up in humid climates.

This glorious collection will be available on:
