Beauty Box Five February 2015

I know that we are now into March but I just received my February Beauty Box Five and although it was a bit late I am happy it wasn't lost in the mail! This month’s theme was all about celebrating with marvelous skincare and makeup as the beauty subscription turned three!

Before I delve into the box let’s review how the service works. Beauty Box Five is a subscription that starts at $12 for the monthly box, $30 for the quarterly subscription and $99 dollars for a year. In this box you will receive a mix of luxury items and common brands with products for: hair, skin and nails as well as fragrances and beauty accessories. The box contains 5 products and usually includes one or two full sized items. It is a great way to sample a variety of new brands.

Absolute New York Love Lip Balm (full size $5.00)

The scent of this creamy pink lip balm takes me back to my childhood when I had an obsession with lip products that were sweet and delicious! Although it has a fun bubble gum scent the aroma is not overwhelming or too artificial and the smooth glossy texture coats lips in a layer of moisture to help combat dryness. The formula doesn't contain natural butters or oils but it does get the job done and feels great on the lips. The balm is supposed to have a slight tint but I don’t notice much color once applied and the finish is quite translucent. I love the cute, pink packaging!

Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow in Vanilla Frosting (full size 0.04 fl oz- $22.50)

I haven’t tried this brand before but I am a huge fan of loose shadow because I love how vivid and pigmented they are! The container is quite small but the shadow is 100% pure mineral makeup and a little goes a long way to provide full, glamorous coverage.

The brand is from the UK and the pigment is designed to produce a striking, professional effect with an easy to blend formula. The color is highly pigmented and intense! Vanilla Frosting is a bright silver-chrome shade with subtle sparkle that is great for the lids or used as a highlight around the tear ducts. The shadow can also be used wet and the brand is cruelty free.

Revlon Color Stay Nail Enamel in Spanish Moss (full size $3.99)

I have tried these Revlon lacquers before and although they come in some fabulous shades I am not a huge fan of this particular color. I’m sure this polish would be a hit with those who like neutral greens and the longevity of the formula is quite average.

GlamGlow Youth-Mud TingleExfoliate Treatment (sample included)

I would have loved a full-size sample of this treatment because it has been growing in popularity within the beauty community. The mud mask only takes 10 minutes and is used "backstage in Hollywood’s entertainment, music, fashion and award industry." The formula is designed to: moisturize, activate collagen synthesis, resurface, exfoliate, smooth, brighten, tighten, absorb impurities, protect against free radicals and leave skin radiant and youthful. I am looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about.

Avon Big Color Eye Pencil (full size $3.49)

Gold is my favorite shade of eye shadow so I can always use more! This color is pretty but I always prefer pencils that require no sharpening as I find it a bit of a hassle.

Bonus Birthday Gift!
This month subscribers were also sent a $20.00 gift card to yourminerals.com which sells an array of all natural shadows, foundations, blushes and brushes. I took a look at the site and the products start at $21.00 with an additional shipping cost of $14.95. The brand is Swedish and the mineral makeup looks very fluffy and pigmented with a nice range of color. If I do decide to order anything I think I’d try the shadow or blush.

This month’s box was pretty good! There were 4 full-sized products included and only one sample with a value of about $34.98.

  1. I have read mixed reviews on Beauty Box hence I have yet to subscribe to it. Is it USD12 a month? And how much would it be for shipping to Canada? Sorry for the question, I guess I could find out myself. LOL!

I am subscribed to Luxebox and ipsy now but am always on the lookout for new beauty subscription to try, do you have any good ones in mind?

    1. Hi Shireen,
I think with every box there are occasional hits and misses. They have to cater to many tastes and preferences so not all subscribers may not like every products in the box all the time. Beauty Box 5 has had some great products including items that were more practical but overall I always end up using what I get.

Shipping to the U.S is free but of course like always we Canadians do have to pay a bit extra. I find that this is the case with most things I order online, I guess it goes with the territory of being overseas. The shipping cost for Canada is $3.00 which isn't too bad. The box usually takes about 2-3 weeks to arrive and I get it through Canada Post.

I have tried a few other boxes, I also liked Wantable because all the items are full-sized but it is more expensive.

      Thanks for stopping by :)

    1. Hi Jia,
I know what you mean, I have seen the price of the masks and they are on the high-end of the beauty scale. If it is worth it however I am willing to shell out the cash. I'm always on the lookout for things that boost my complexion! If you decide to try it let me know what you think :)
