L'Oreal Glossy Balm Review

This summer I've been using pigmented balms to protect, hydrate and providing brilliant color. I prefer lip products that are comfortable, healing and keep my lips moisturized so the pretty Glossy Balms by L’Oreal are a great alternative to traditional lip treatments.

These glossy crayons are available in 8 shades ranging from neutral to deep. They are formulated to deliver a “high dose of pigmentation” but the intensity you get may vary by color. I have the balms in: 210 Ginger Candy, 230 My Baby Doll and 270 Petite Plum. The lighter shades seem to offer subtle, even transparent coverage while the deeper hues offer medium to rich color pay-off.

The best thing about the balms is the light, slick texture that glides on buttery soft and feels comfortable and soothing on dry lips. You can also control the finish by applying less for subtle shine or more for an ultra glossy effect. They condition and nourish for soft, supple skin and the texture is very smooth. The longevity is decent but the more I apply the longer the color tends to stick around and most of the time I forget I even have it on!

The tapered shape is great for precise placement but because the crayon is oily, repeated application does alter the point quite quickly. I like how naturally pouty they make my lips look and they give off a very pretty sheen. The balms seem to be unscented to suit a variety of preferences.

Ginger Candy is a light peachy shade that applies sheer and neutral. On my complexion it appears quite nude.

My Baby Doll is a baby pink that offers more saturation and glides on like a dream. I think this shade is suitable for most skin tones and enhances the lips beautifully.

Petite Plum is a great shade for fall and has a nice brown, berry undertone.

The Glossy Balms retail for $7.99 each and you can view the other shades by clicking HERE.
