Urban Decay Born to Run Collection – Review & Swatches

If you are planning to escape this summer and need some travel-worthy makeup, Urban Decay has released a gorgeous new collection that will become your globe-trotting go-to. Whether you’re lounging in by the pool in Aruba or sipping cocktails in Venice, these bodacious hues create trendy looks that are perfect for sunny days and starry nights.

Tomorrow I am off to Niagara Falls for a girl’s weekend so this beauty will definitely be in my carry-on. The eye shadow palette ($59.00) is plastered with serene images of exotic destinations including a few cities I have very fond memories of. The design reminds me of a suitcases adorned with souvenir stickers from all over the globe - very appropriate for my worldly expeditions.

Inside it gets even better! There are 21 stunning shades that are all very wearable and perfectly coordinated for mixing and matching. If you don’t have a palette that you can take everywhere and anywhere for all occasions, Born to Run has you covered! You get a wonderful selection of neutrals, smoldering sunset hues, deep smokey tones, radiant gold and pops of vibrancy. I also like the contrast of brilliant shimmer and velvety mattes for creating definition, shape and highlight.

I couldn’t wait to wear Wild Heart and Hell Ride with their beautiful pink and berry undertones plus Punk is a fantastic crease sculptor for any look. This side of the palette is quite warm with reddish coppery hues and alluring burnt tones that transition into autumn. It also coordinates with the UD Naked Heat Palette if you really want to get creative.

The other side is cool and rustic, plus all of the shadows have a rich texture for smooth application, intense color payoff and insane durability. I always use the UD Primer Potion as a base but even without it, these pigments never crease or fade and the coverage is very buildable. They also blend effortlessly and look great on all skin tones.

The Limited-Edition Born to Run Lipsticks ($22.00 each) complement the shadows and amplify your look. Ready is a bright rose with sheer sparkle, Comfort has a nude-mauve undertone for all complexions and Marfa is a deep matte berry with red glitter. The buttery color applies full-coverage and supple to keep your lips soft and moisturized.

The tubes also coincide with the travel theme making them super cute for vacation.

The collection also include three 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils ($25.00 each) in rich jewel tones. The metallic green, reddish-brown and dark copper look amazing with the bold shadows and glide on rich and smooth for vivid lines. The award-winning formula is ideal for summer because it dries down to a long-lasting finish that will not smudge, run or fade even in heat and humidity. The only downside is that they require sharpening and I prefer twist-up pencils.

I won’t go anywhere without packing a setting spray to prevent my makeup from melting into a blotchy mess so the travel-size All Nighter is always in my tote. The lightweight mist sets and holds makeup in place for up to 16 hours with a non-sticky finish and temperature control technology.

Urban Decay is available at freestanding stores, Sephora, Shoppers Drug Mart, and online at urbandecay.ca. Don't forget to sign up for the Beauty Junkies Rewards Program to earn and redeem points.
